Team Mom Blog
When I was in the 6th grade, basketball was the only organized team sport I played. We ranged from very short to average height and we were all inexperienced except for 1 player. Surprisingly we went all the way to the championship playoffs where we lost to a team that danced circles around us. But one thing I remembered was that we had a lot of fun which can be attributed to the great coaches we had.
This seems to be true for my son who is playing basketball for the first time: great coaches and he's having a lot of fun. He is playing this sport a year younger than I was and I hope by the end of the season he'll "get" the sport of basketball including where he needs to be in the game, how and when to get open and experience making his first basket!

Softball 101

My name is Kevin Koehler. I have been a youth coach for the past 14 years. I hold an advanced USA registered coach's card, and have coached ages from 6-14 years old. Currently, I coach ASA fast pitch softball in Riverside California in which both my daughters play, and I've been doing such for the past 2 years. My father played for MLB a long time ago, so baseball is in my blood. Prior to coaching this sport, I coached many high level travel ice hockey teams that traveled throughout the western United States. My professional training consists of many seminars, workshops, and courses in dealing with youth athletes, and just as important, their parents. Some of these required seminars to gain the advanced USA coaching card lasted a week long; 8 hours a day.
