TeenForce Report

September 21, 2012

Greetings!

We will keep this newsletter short and sweet.   Our entire program is growing rapidly, thanks to the support of our employer partners and the great work that our youth are doing on the job.

Our Foster Youth Jobs Program was featured on ABC 7 News last night.  Please view the video below.

You can really help us by sharing this on your facebook page, or by forwarding our newsletter.  These links are at the top of this newsletter.  Also, read a little futher below to see the employers who are supporting foster youth and see the tremendous increase in our activity this past summer.

Employers Supporting our Foster Youth Jobs Program
A Little Bit of Math
We know this is complicated and boring, but it is important.
  • In June, July and August, we covered 94% of our operating expenses with earned income.
  • In other words, we only needed $1,735 in donation support to run our entire program this summer.  With that money, we were able to do this:
    • Employ 107 youth for a total of 11,203 hours with 35 employers
    • 28% of those hours were worked by foster youth
    • An additional 23% of the hours were from low-income youth, or youth with other barriers to employment, such as learning disabilities

This is why we say we are developing a new and better youth jobs program.  We are nearly self-sustaining and our youth are being paid to do important work.

About Us

TeenForce is a self-sustaining non-profit organization that helps teens (ages 14 - 20) gain work experience.  We provide work readiness training, skills development and job placement services.  Our staffing agency model makes it convenient and cost-effective for employers to hire teens and generates revenue to support our activities.

Teens in our program gain confidence and skills, while improving adult/teen relationships.  Teens become healthy, caring and responsible young adults who have important roles in the community.

We are located at 4525 Union Avenue in San Jose. We are open Monday through Friday 8 AM to 5 PM.
