Greetings!

Our second summer is off to a roaring start!  Monday, we had EIGHT(8) teens start very interesting technology internships that you can read about below.

Last week, we received great media exposure in the San Jose Mercury News and also were featured on the superb KQED radio show called Forum. We would be grateful if you can "like" and share the article on Facebook.  In fact, please "like and share" this newsletter by clicking the buttons at the top.

Also, a big shout out to our 22 high school and two college graduates.  TeenForce Teens are stong in class and in the workplace.

Working together for our youth.  Learn about CTE!

You have heard us talk a lot about Career Technical Education (CTE).  This collaboration is really paying off for our youth.

The three Synnex internships discussed above are a direct result of CTE Project Lead the Way engineering classes at San Jose High.  The students loved the class, which included mentoring by Synnex executives.

The TeenForce platform is the perfect model to extend that learning with internships for graduating high school seniors.  We are grateful for the chance to collaborate with Career Tech teachers, High Tech executives and great students for this ideal demonstration of our model.  This collaboration allows students to "try on" a career, making school more meaningful. Businesses contribute to the community and help groom future employees.

Parents and teens:  Please take the time to learn how CTE classes can help prepare youth for the workforce.

Employers:  CTE students make great interns and we can help you find students studying in 15 different industries.

Skills Training News

Our new online skills training partner, LearnUp, made some big news.  Check out their announcement from the Clinton Global Initiative last week and this great article in Forbes.  TeenForce Teens:  You should take advantage of this free learning website.  You can register for free at www.learnup.me and begin learning right away.  The site tracks your learning and allows youth to create "learning profiles" that can be uploaded to employers.

This is a great way for teens to differentiate themselves from the pack.  Employers will recognize "active learners" and be more likely to schedule interviews.

Thanks to our newest training partner, Security Industry Specialists, Inc.  They recently offered an inside look at entry level jobs in the industry, including site visits to two well known technology companies.

We also ran some cool training sessions at Trader Joe's and Restaurant James Randall. The kids who participate in our training programs are starting to get regular job placements.

About Us

TeenForce is a self-sustaining non-profit organization that helps teens (ages 14 - 20) gain work experience.  We provide work readiness training, skills development and job placement services.  Our staffing agency model makes it convenient and cost-effective for employers to hire teens and generates revenue to support our activities.

Teens in our program gain confidence and skills, while improving adult/teen relationships.  Teens become healthy, caring and responsible young adults who have important roles in the community.

We are located at 4525 Union Avenue in San Jose. We are open Monday through Friday 8 AM to 5 PM.
