January 12, 2012
|
Greetings!
 | 2011 top workers Alyssa and Melissa along with Avinash (#1 in 2010). Nice T-Shirt! |
The 2011 totals are in and we are ready to recognize our top teen workers of the year. Drumroll.....Please!
#1 - Alyssa Schweickert - 670 hours
#2 - Melissa Dalla - 652 hours
#3 - Miguel Ramos - 624 hours
#4 - Gloria Bonilla - 599 hours
#5 - Elizabeth Larios-Alcala - 577 hours
These students come from a great mix of clients. Alyssa and Melissa have been working with our very first client, mortgage provider Princeton Capital. Miguel comes from our first internship client and has leveraged his auto mechanic training at CCOC into a steady assignment at Los Gatos Auto Service. Gloria and Elizabeth are with our largest heathcare client, The Terraces of Los Gatos. (Special congratulations to Gloria, who converted to the "regular" payroll at The Terraces in December!).
These youth were the tip of the spear for a 2011 TeenForce class that logged 15,000 hours and earned over $140,000. Momentum has really been building, as 11,000 of those hours came in the second half of the year.
Congratulations to all of our youth and thanks very much to all of our clients and supporters. We look forward to continued growth and success in 2012.
Elly, Nancy and John |

Client Profile: Beshoff Infiniti
 | | Beshoff Infiniti Dealership! |
We are very happy to announce that our expansion into San Jose is making progress with our latest client, Beshoff Infiniti. This outstanding auto dealership has put a TeenForce teen to work in the service area. Richey Barnes, service manager, said, "It makes sense to support the TeenForce program. It is a convenient way for us to expand our staff and we are pleased to provide a young man with his first work experience. He is off to a great start." This is now the third work opportunity provided to youth by the Beshoff Motorcars family, so you know who we are recommending for your next automotive purchase! |

TeenForce Annual Report
Transparency and accountability is very important to us. This is why we regularly update our job placement progress at the bottom of each newsletter. We have completed our annual form 990, which is the required reporting for the IRS. Please feel free to review here on our website. We would also like to thank Petrinovich Pugh and Company for donating their services in helping us complete this form for the second consecutive year.

Collaboration with Family & Children Services to support foster youth
We are very excited to be working closely with Family & Children Services' Independent Living Program (ILP) to identify work opportunities for current and former foster youth in Santa Clara County. Last fall, Family & Children Services and Santa Clara County Social Services Agency collaborated to open The Hub, a youth-led and organized community center which is dedicated to providing resources and support to promote the success and stability of current and former foster youth, ages 15-24. At The Hub, which is located in San Jose, youth receive help finding and maintaining employment through workshops and one-to-one support provided by Family & Children Services, County Social Services Agency, and other local youth-serving providers. Frank Dali, Employment Coordinator for Family & Children Services' ILP, said, "TeenForce has been very responsive and helpful. They have placed some of our referrals in jobs and have helped us identify job shadowing opportunities. They are a great addition to the network of organizations that are helping foster youth transition to independent living." Contact The Hub at 408-491-6450

About Us
TeenForce is a self-sustaining non-profit organization that helps teens (ages 13 - 20) gain work experience. We provide work readiness training, skills development and job placement services. Our staffing agency model makes it convenient and cost-effective for employers to hire teens and generates revenue to support our activities.
Teens in our program gain confidence and skills, while improving adult/teen relationships. Teens become healthy, caring and responsible young adults who have important roles in the community.
We are located at 101 Church Street, Suite 19 in Los Gatos. We are open Monday through Friday 8 AM to 5 PM.
