| TeenForce Report |
September 1, 2011 |
Greetings!
We just completed a very active month of August, and want to highlight a few items that are a bit outside of "business as usual." We were very excited and honored to be recognized by the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors for our work to date. Thanks to Supervisor Wasserman and the entire Board for the commendation!

This county-wide recognition fits well with our current objective of expanding our sphere of influence beyond Los Gatos and throughout the County. This is one of the main themes of our upcoming luncheon (details below), where we hope to introduce the TeenForce concept to more employers.
We are also pleased to be completing a two-day training session today in conjunction with Momentum Health where we will teach job search skills to eight youth from San Jose. Our objective is always to place the youth we meet in jobs, but we also want to teach them how to search on their own, as this is a lifelong skill that we all need.

We are very excited to feature a new client who is bringing a fun new store to Los Gatos. Building on its 2010 launch in Scott's Valley, WiX just opened its second store on Union Avenue in Los Gatos. Cassie Will and her partner, Laura Lemus, learned about the TeenForce model and decided it was the ideal way to manage the staffing for their start-up.
"We love hiring and working with teens. With TeenForce handling all of the administrative work, we can focus on building a great team and launching our business here in town," says Cassie. We encourage you to check out WiX next time you need a great gift or party idea. |

A Taste of Tapestry
We are pleased to be associated with the great folks who are reviving the Labor Day Tapestry Arts Festival. Please join us at the History Park at Kelly Park in San Jose on September 3 and 4 from 10:00 to 6:00. There will be great food and entertainment, along with a number of art exhibitors. The Model T Ford Club will be there, and the San Jose Earthquakes will be showcasing some soccer activities. There will be multiple stages with a great variety of music, including a Junior Battle of the Bands. Two of our TeenForce teens will be helping run the sound boards and MC'ing the various events, and we will have an informational tent as we continue our quest to engage more employers and youth in San Jose. www.tapestryartssanjose.com |

Community Youth Workforce Development Luncheon
As we start our second full year, we are seeking new employers that can provide work opportunities for foster youth and non-foster youth. We are begining to expand our reach into San Jose, and it is important that we find work opportunities that are close to where these youth live and go to school.
Please visit our events page to register. Individual tickets are $50 and sponsorship opportunities are available. Hope to see you there. |

About Us
TeenForce is a self-sustaining non-profit organization that helps teens (ages 13 - 20) gain work experience. We provide work readiness training, skills development and job placement services. Our staffing agency model makes it convenient and cost-effective for employers to hire teens and generates revenue to support our activities.
Teens in our program gain confidence and skills, while improving adult/teen relationships. Teens become healthy, caring and responsible young adults who have important roles in the community.
We are located at 101 Church Street, Suite 19 in Los Gatos. We are open Monday through Friday 8 AM to 5 PM.
