Greetings!
Last Friday, we delivered paychecks to 48 teens and our total teen hours worked is now over 10,000. While we feel good about our progress, we are also humbled by the huge challenge youth are facing when seeking employment. We have had 53 teens register for our program since summer started, bringing our total to 248. The strong majority of those are still waiting for an opportunity to work.
Every newsletter, we ask you to spread the word to help generate job orders. This time, we mean it! Please click the button at the top to share this newsletter on facebook and let's see if we can get some more teens working in our local communities. It is truly a win-win for all involved.
-John Hogan

Client Profile: FineHomeMoves at Intero Real Estate
Gail Thomson and Stephen Slater, of the FineHomeMoves team at Intero Real Estate in Los Gatos, said "Teenforce has provided an easy and affordable avenue for our small company to hire a smart, driven local teen to help with our business. We've been able to get the level of help we need while Ryan gains practical experience and skills that help him stand out from his peers. The Teenforce model of screening potential candidates and handling all payments makes the hiring effort small for us. We'd recommend Teenforce to any business looking for extra help and/or looking to engage with the community."

Chambers of Commerce enjoying the TeenForce Advantage
The Campbell Chamber of Commerce has recently hired a TeenForce teen to fill in for vacationing employees. Our teen is updating online postings, answering phones and providing general clerical support. "Having a resource like TeenForce is a great way to fill in on short notice or for any temporary absence in a workplace. We were able to find a teen who could be easily trained and placed in a job for a specific amount of time. Michelle has done a great job fitting in with our needs" said Neil Collins, CEO of the Campbell Chamber of Commerce. Not to be outdone, the Los Gatos Chamber has also reached out to TeenForce. We supplied some "muscle" to help out with their recent office move, and also helped with some clerical projects. Both Chambers of Commerce have been great supporters of our new organization and we encourage local businesses to join and begin reaping the benefits of membership.

Clerical Workshop Provides Skills to Teens
On Tuesday, July 12th, five teens participated in a Clerical Workshop offered by a partnership of TeenForce and Brown Law Offices. Diane Brown, Attorney at Law, helped train teens in the use of copy equipment, scanners, postage machines and fax machines. Ms. Brown is our first community training partner and we thank her for her time and valuable knowledge! We are seeking community members to be training partners for retail and restaurant skills. Please contact Elly Detweiler at ellydetweiler@teenforce.org if you can offer your skills! |
