TeenForce ReportMarch 4,  2011
Greetings!

This issue of the TeenForce report announces a very gratifying connection with A Place for Teens, an iconic provider of teen programming in Los Gatos for many years.  We are thrilled to be working together to provide work, play and growth opportunities for local teens.

We also want to ask you to pull on your thinking cap to see how we can provide more training and work opportunities for our teens.  Our motto is "Our Teens, Our Jobs, Our Community."  As you read below, please spend an extra minute or two and see if you can provide a referral or an idea that will help us provide more opportunities for our youth.

Client Profile:   A Place For Teens

We are very pleased to introduce you to our newest client, A Place for Teens (APFT).  This organization has been providing a fun and safe environment for local teens The Venue for over 25 years.  They were part of the inspiration in forming TeenForce, as we feel that work experience can build on the great opportunities that APFT already provides.

A Place For Teens (The Venue)

APFT has recently announced important changes, including hiring Mike Loya as full-time Executive Director.  Mike and the APFT board are working hard to expand the mission of APFT and develop programming that is both fun and sustainable.  We are pleased to be helping the new team with administrative assistance for the next few weeks.  And, we look forward to growing together with APFT as we each rely on our

strengths to help develop healthy, caring and responsible youth.

We encourage you to visit the APFT web site and to support their upcoming Venue-a-thon, which showcases our talented youth on KCAT television.  This program was successful in its first year in 2010 and they are looking to build on and exceed that performance this year.

Our program is uniquely suited for small to medium businesses that may not have considered an internship program before because they don't feel they have the resources to recruit, select, structure, train, etc.  We can help cut through many of these issues, all the way to helping craft a job description for the summer assignment.  And, of course, we can streamline the selection process and remove all of the administrative and hiring hassle with our staffing model.  We can assure you that the end result will be an enriching experience for both the student and the employer.  Please think about your own businesses and your associates and contact Nancy to see how she can help you create a great opportunity for our local youth.

About Us

TeenForce is a self-sustaining non-profit organization that helps teens (ages 13 - 20) gain work experience.  We provide work readiness training, skills development and job placement services.  Our staffing agency model makes it convenient and cost-effective for employers to hire teens and generates revenue to support our activities.

Teens in our program gain confidence and skills, while improving adult/teen relationships.  Teens become healthy, caring and responsible young adults who have important roles in the community.

We are located at 101 Church Street, Suite 19 in Los Gatos. We are open Monday through Friday 8 AM to 5 PM.
