| TeenForce Report | February 9, 2011 |
Greetings!
Activity continues to accelerate at TeenForce. In our last newsletter, we introduced Nancy Westreich, our new Director of Internship Programs. This week we are pleased to introduce Elly Detweiler as our Youth Development Coordinator in charge of job placements and training. We also spotlight new clients and encourage you to check out Project Cornerstone. Their work on developmental assets provided much of the inspiration behind the founding of TeenForce.

Project Cornerstone: Asset Champions Breakfast We encourage you to attend this terrific event on March 24, and to support Project Cornerstone. TeenForce focuses on helping teens build developmental assets through work experience, and the folks at Project Cornerstone are the "assets experts" in Santa Clara County. They do great work and will recognize the 2011 Asset Champions at the breakfast, which will feature our own Los Gatos Police Chief, Scott Seaman.

Client Profile: Brajenovich Insurance Agency

We are pleased to be working with our newest clients, Julie and Karl Brajenovich. They have a Farmers Insurance Agency on North Santa Cruz Avenue and specialize in both business and personal lines of insurance. They provide the personal and local service that you deserve. Our teens are helping them introduce their services in Los Gatos through a residential marketing program. They are also our first client to take advantage of our standby service, which includes social media marketing assistance at no cost. Check out the presence that our teens created for them on Facebook and LikeList. And remember to "like" the Brajenovich Insurance Agency!

Welcome to Elly Detweiler: Youth Development Coordinator
Elly joined the team last week, and has hit the ground running. She has been instrumental in implementing several of our most recent job placements and also in supporting our current teens in their work assignments. She received her Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Santa Clara University in 2010. Her work experience includes research projects at SCU, several years in the restaurant industry and an internship at a non-profit supporting people living with HIV/AIDS.
In addition to managing our office workflow, including our 4 part-time teen workers, Elly will be coordinating training programs for youth in the areas of office, retail and restaurant skills. She will also be seeking community volunteers to assist with development of "soft skills" such as interviewing, resume writing and workplace etiquette.

Residential Clients, a Unique Niche
Of course you know that we place teens in "typical" part-time jobs in offices and local stores. We have developed quite a following in what we call "Residential Job Placements." Many people need help around the home for routine tasks or long overdue organizing projects, but don't have ready access to folks who can help.
TeenForce can be a great solution. We have teens doing housework for busy executives, or who can assist with spring cleaning or yard work. We have found a particular niche in supporting the elderly with a variety of tasks and companionship. We have teens supporting the elderly in their homes, and at two prominent residential care facilities in Los Gatos and Saratoga.
Please contact us if you think one of our teens can help you or your parents around the house. When you use TeenForce, you are helping a teen and you can be assured that the workers are insured and paid according to state and federal regulations.

About Us
TeenForce is a self-sustaining non-profit organization that helps teens (ages 13 - 20) gain work experience. We provide work readiness training, skills development and job placement services. Our staffing agency model makes it convenient and cost-effective for employers to hire teens and generates revenue to support our activities.
Teens in our program gain confidence and skills, while improving adult/teen relationships. Teens become healthy, caring and responsible young adults who have important roles in the community.
We are located at 101 Church Street, Suite 19 in Los Gatos. We are open Monday through Friday 8 AM to 5 PM.
