GOVERNOR'S CORNER

The law requires Rotary clubs and districts to file an annual information return (Form 990, 990-EZ) or submit an annual electronic notice (990-N). The version a club

files is dependent upon its gross receipts for the year. This report is required annually. The law mandates that this information be submitted on or before the 15th day of the 5th month following the close of the annual accounting period (no later than 15 November). Failure to meet the annual filing requirement for three consecutive years will result in revocation of the tax-exempt status of the club or district. For more information about the November 15 deadline and requirements view the attached IRS Notice.

MEMBERSHIP MINUTE

President Lou Alfonso of the Rotary Club of Greater Chino Hills suggests the following to re-engage members in Club operations: He invites members to chair the Rotary meetings for a month at a time. He is on the meeting agenda for the President's Comments, but otherwise, the meeting is run by members that he has chosen. He says that as Rotarians are community leaders, all are capable of being President, and certainly to run meetings. This is serving to engage the more casual or long-standing members, and assists in member retention. For details on this approach contact Lou Alfonso at lou.dalfonso@gmail.com.

ROTARY VISION FACILITATION

Lewis Carroll quote "If you don't know where you are going, any road will get you there" has some application to a Rotary Clubs direction. Does your club have a plan for its strategic direction? As you begin preparing for 2012-2013, consider attending a Rotary Vision Facilitation. It will help your President Elect create a road map for your club. The process takes 4 hours and is conducted by excellent facilitators. District Governor Doug Fowler wants each club to consider this and make it a priority during his year. For more information contact Frank Cunningham at brofrank@verizon.net
