DISTRICT LEADERSHIP ANNOUNCEMENTS

WORLD POLIO DAY IDEAS - OCTOBER 24, 2011

What is your club planning for October 24, 2011?  Send your ideas to quicknotes@district5300.org.  PR has come up with a few ideas to help nudge the creative ideas.  If you have different ideas, send them in so we can share them with the District.

  •  Help your Interact students write to physicians asking for donations.
  • Download a World Polio Day Proclamation and ask your local city council for a proclamation.  Bring a survivor to the presentation and fill the chambers with people silently making the "this close" gesture while the proclamation is read.
  • Find a polio survivor to tell their story in the local media.
  • Send an article in to the local media regarding someone who has attended an NID.
  • Ask local tv/radio to air "this close" PSAs.
  • Partner with neighboring clubs and local paper for a large (full page!) This Close ad and RI fact sheet info on progress.
For more information visit the Rotary International Website for World Polio Day.

Clubs can showcase items from their respective cultures and/or sell them for a fundraiser.  The only thing not allowed for sale is food.  For specific information about the festival and how to reserve a table, please review the handouts below.  Cultural Dress is encouraged.  Entrance to the Festival is free.
