GOVERNOR'S CORNER |
The worst drought in 60 years has gripped the Horn of Africa, leading to acute famine in parts of Somalia, where hundreds of thousands of people are now fleeing to Ethiopia and Kenya for aid. More than 10 million people are affected in the drought-stricken countries, including 3.7 million who are at risk of starvation. In response to the humanitarian crisis, The Rotary Foundation has established the Rotary Horn of Africa Famine and Refugee Relief Fund, which will support recovery projects in the affected areas. To donate to this effort, send a check payable to The Rotary Foundation, including the notation "Rotary Horn of Africa Famine and Refugee Relief Fund, #G10008" on the memo line, to:

DISTRICT 5300 RANKS 2ND IN THE ROTARY WORLD |
District 5300 was among the leading Bequest Society Districts for 2010-11. District 5300 ranked 2nd in the world with 58 new Bequest Society members last year. We thank all who became Bequest Society members and those who participated in the Million Dollar Dinner. Who was first? District 5400 (parts of Idaho and Oregon) had the most new bequests this past Rotary year with 80. The District in third place was 5450 (Northern Colorado) with 26. So hooray for the western U.S.!
Contact Craig Cox (Altadena) or Mike Driebe (San Marino) to see how you too can become a Rotary Foundation Bequest Society member. |
