 Weekly QuickNotes

GOVERNOR'S CORNER
I would like to thank all the clubs that have submitted pledges for our wheelchair project.  To date we have had 45 clubs make commitments putting us on track to provide three containers of wheelchairs.  As Governor I am very encouraged by this show of support. This allows 280 children and adults to receive the life-changing gift of mobility.

The pledge submission deadline has changed from September 30 to August 31.  Please mail your checks to the District 5300 Offices in Henderson, NV.  Be sure to indicate Wheelchair Project 2011-2012 on your checks.

The Membership Minute is an e-mail newsletter that provides membership development ideas, resources, and tools. VOCATIONAL TRAINING FOR NIGERIA AND THE PHILIPPINES

Vocational Training Teams to Nigeria and the Philippines are currently being formed.  The teams are designed to teach entrepreneurship and business plan development to New Generations youth [NewGen]. Your club is encouraged to make a pledge to this worthy project by going online to www.matchinggrants.org.  Four qualified persons will be chosen and will receive an all-expense-paid trip for 2 - 3 weeks.  Last January a team to Nigeria taught 1,870 NewGen youth at two Universities - resulting in 770 business plans.  On all future missions, local instructors will be trained, as well as NewGen youth.
