Increasingly law enforcement leaders are facing greater demands from the public they serve and are challenged by some employees who insist on doing the minimum amount (or less) of work. Tension between high performing and low performing employees with normal employees caught in the middle has been a big challenge for criminal justice leaders. Teams that should be united in order to face an increasing workload are severely divided.
This workshop focuses on proven approaches for improving individual and team performance. Topics to be covered include: · Managing gossip and other dysfunctional behaviors · Addressing low performing team members · Cases in dealing with discipline · Getting past "passive observers" and creating Effective Team Members · Developing an effective performance and feedback process INSTRUCTOR:
Dr. Lewis Bender is Professor Emeritus at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. He has researched and taught a wide variety of courses related to management and supervision. His primary research focus has been on organizational teams and the myriad factors and variables that impact team processes and effectiveness. Dr. Bender received his Ph.D. from the University of Georgia (1977), Masters Degree from Wayne State University (1973), and baccalaureate from Grand Valley State University (1971). TARGET AUDIENCE:
