This INFORMATIVE course is designed to teach Law Enforcement and Legal Professionals how a cell phone works, where its data is stored, and how to preserve it.
Cell Phones are the new means of
communication between criminals.
The ability to move about and reach the far ends of the earth makes it a natural communication means for the enterprising criminal.
These phones are everywhere and 9 out of 10 Americans have one. If you need evidence, leads, witnesses, etc, you can get it off the cell phone! Move over computers, the new kid in town is the cell phone!
Many law enforcement and legal professionals don't have a firm grasp on how to handle a cell phone properly. Pertinent data can be lost in an instant. This class gives law enforcement and legal professionals the solid training needed to deal with this new technology in the field or in the office.
Discussion will include:
· Cell Phones and What Data They Contain
· How to Properly Preserve the Data in a Mobile Phone
· Deleted Data Explained and its Retrievability
· The Laws Dealing with Cell Phones
· Search Warrant Language
Training will include Comprehensive Handouts on:
· "Cheat Sheet" for Handy Reference in the Field
· Retention of Cell Phone Data Sheet
· Resources Index
This is not a class on Cell Phone Forensics, but this class will enable law enforcement and legal professionals to properly answer the common questions about cell phones, what to expect from the phone and how to properly maintain the evidence.
