This course is designed to teach Criminal Justice Administrators and Supervisors how to prepare, justify, present, and manage the budget process to their agency's advantage.
Today's economic times require that criminal justice leaders and managers possess effective budgeting skills and knowledge. The effectiveness of an agency is often dependent upon how well its' budget is prepared, presented, and managed. Through lecture, demonstrations, and in in-class exercises, this course delivers the information you need to understand, develop, and present your agency's budget.
Discussion will include: · Budget Priorities and Strategies · Building Your Budget's Framework and Structure · Different Budget Systems, Types and Applications · Budgeting Formulas, Trend Line Analysis, Manpower Formulas and Program
Evaluation · Near Term, Long Term and Future Term Budgeting Training will include:· Monitoring and managing a budget · Factoring for current and anticipated conditions relating to calls for service,
special programs, demographics and business changes · Accounting for unit measures (per capita and per service costs, etc.) · Presenting your budget to supervisors, elected officials and the general public
INSTRUCTOR: Effective Budgeting for Criminal Justice Agencies is taught by William Liquori, a 44 year veteran of law enforcement. Mr. Liquori is the retired Police Chief of Altamonte Springs - an agency recognized for its' innovative programs and as a leader in Community Policing and Problem Solving. During his career, he has worked with small and large agencies and has taught Budgeting to criminal justice agencies across the nation.
TARGET AUDIENCE: All members of the criminal justice community (sworn or non-sworn). Training is especially valuable for agency heads, administrators, accounting personnel, etc.
