From the Executive Director Re: Your Free Alumni Membership. Z

ACME is happy to announce that its redesigned V3 mentoring platform is now open to alumni! You are receiving this email, because at the end of last semester, you asked to be notified when our alumni program was open for your use. The membership fee for individual learners has been waived for former ACME students like yourselves, until November 1, 2012. It only takes minutes to register for your new account!

Benefits of a free alumni membership include: access to high-level students and professional mentors who will help further nurture and develop your artwork and access to instructional videos and tutorials through the "ACME Connect" page. You will also be able to mentor other students. This will help you practice your studio and communication skills, keep your abilities and skills in front of our professional mentors, and ensure your participation in the tradition of industry "pay it forward" apprenticeship.

In fact, membership benefits for alumni on ACME are the same as for regular student members, except that free alumni members are not eligible to participate in the fall/winter 2011 ACME competitions. We are still finalizing rules for Alumni participation in the end-of-year competition, and will be updating you with this news on the "Events" page.

Seeking Newsletter SubmissionsC

We are seeking your comments and updates to include in our next newsletter.

Since our next newsletter will come out at the end of November, the theme will be "I AM THANKFUL FOR..." and "IMPACT." We would like to see brief stories (in both pictures and words) about your successes following ACME and how ACME helped you get there. The newsletter's themes are:

1) why alumni are THANKFUL FOR ACME and
2) what IMPACT our program has had on your jobs, ongoing studies, self-esteem, career goals, and life.

Photos submission guidelines:

* Be in high resolution.  This means NO cell phone photos and NO blurry photos. Before you take pictures, set your camera to the highest resolution setting possible.  If you are choosing from photos that you already have available, choose the photo files that are really large (2MB or larger).

* Have a clearly defined subject.  If there are too many people in a photo, the viewer will not be able to see people's faces. Students alone or working with one or two other students or educators can "read" better than a shot of the entire class!

*  Tell a story by itself.  Include iconic imagery that shows what you do.  This could mean a photo of a student working on their artwork or comments on a computer at home or in a classroom.

* Be submitted as a .JPG, .TIF, or .PNG file.  If your files are some other format, just send them anyway, and we'll see what we can do.
