Free Professional Development Workshop 

 

Greetings Educators, 

 

The results are in! You are invited to our free professional development workshop Monday, July 25th - Wednesday, July 27th 2011. Workshop sessions will be held from 8:00 am- 4:00 pm, with an evening networking session on the first day.

Based on your requests, our scheduled topics will include: 

 

1. ACME program and website overview

 

2. What ACME is and how to use it in the classroom. Website navigation for new and returning educators 

 

3. Principles of animation with Frank Gladstone

i. Animation definitions: Explores the twelve basic principles of character animation with illustrated deconstructions. Devised for instructors and groups whose educational background may not include specific or in-depth character animation experience as well as those who are transitioning into character animation instruction. 

 

ii. Story elements and storyboards:  An illustrated discussion of the basic elements of narrative (story) structure and the conventions and processes that are the essence of successful storyboarding.

 

iii. Visual language and understanding cinematics. This workshop addresses the building blocks of cinematic visual language; light, color, composition and movement, and how each element is used to visually emphasize the filmmaker's narrative arc.
