They Do Grow Up What began, seemingly ages ago but really less than a decade, is coming to fruition. Yen and One (seated at the table) are two of our students who have graduated from school and are now going to college here in Vietnam.
Phuc, who was among our earliest graduates, is about to be married to a young man she herself led to Christ. Phuc graduated from school and went to Four Seas College of Bible in Singapore. I remember so well Phuc's conversion story. They were my early days in Saigon. I could not speak Vietnamese and she could not speak English - but she could read it. I bought her a cell phone so we could text one another. That meant I had to learn to text. I also bought her an English/Vietnamese dictionary. At night, after she had finished her homework, we would text one another. We did this for a few months and she finally said she wished to be baptized. We set a day, her only day out of school. It was on Sunday and Frenchy had to preach so I asked him to come take her confession and explain things to her early that morning. Then, we drove four hours to the beach for the baptism. Our work has come a long way, and so has she. With her training at Four Seas, and her more recent additional training in Childhood Education in Saigon, she is the prime candidate to head our school in Can Tho when we begin it next year. By the way, if you would like to give her a wedding gift, mark it for "Phuc" and send it to the Texas Address below.

Big Day In my last newsletter I told you about the new clinic and church building we've built near the river. We had our first worship service on October 2 and we had a house full as you can see from the pictures below. Frenchy came from Saigon and interpreted for me. It was a wonderful day and marked a milestone in missions in Vietnam: we now have built our first church building in the history of evangelism in Vietnam - and filled it.

Cambodia Every six months I have to get a new visa in order to stay in Vietnam -- and I have to go to Cambodia to get that. The trip is eight hours by bus. Along the way, I was introduced to boiled bird eggs. Of course, chicken eggs are bird eggs, but bird eggs look different when they are the size of grapes and different colors. They didn't taste like chicken, but they did taste like eggs!
Tom Peeling a Bird Egg Everywhere I looked, there was water. Vietnam and Cambodia have been inundated by floods. Some of our members have not been able to leave their homes because they are surrounded by water and we have been somewhat restricted in our travels by boat because the rivers are so high we can't get under the bridges!
The trip was long, but successful. At Thanksgiving I will return to the United States for a few months. This will allow me to spend some time with family, see my doctors for a check-up, and re-stock on medicine. It will also allow me to spend time with my sponsoring churches. If you would like for me to come and tell about the work in your area, please write me: Tom@dorcasue.com.
As always, thanks for your support and your prayers.
