Living out the call to reach Italians with the Gospel...

Wake Up Italy

October 2011

Greetings!

Isn't it amazing that the Lord has already provided almost 50% of our monthly budget!?! We are so thankful and are living in anticipation of the day that we will be able to step on a plane! In order to raise the remaining half of the funds needed to fulfill the vision God has given us, we are launching a new partnership campaign called "Give Us The B.O.O.T."

This phrase has several meanings to us:

The financial commitment of our partners will literally "boot" us out of the U.S. and propel us into Italy.

B.O.O.T. actually stands for "Bringing Our Offerings Together". This work is a partnership between God (who calls), our partners (who give), and us (who go). We all play a part in reaching Italians with the hope of Christ.

"Give Us The B.O.O.T." is also a prayer, as we ask the Lord to bring a harvest in Italy. We pray, "God, give us the boot!"

Would you join your prayers with ours that God would bring the remaining people that He has called to be part of the work He wants to do in Italy? If you haven't already joined our team, read more below to find out how you can partner with us.

Until All of Italy Hears,

Stephen and Brandy

Give Us The BOOT

Recently, we were able to help Isabella, a new Christian in Italy, find an evangelical church and get her very first Bible in Italian - all via email from Atlanta! Because a friend of hers found our website, we were able to connect her with other Italian believers so that she can grow in her new faith.

But what about all the other Italians just like Isabella, who are searching for God, but live in one of the 32,000 cities in Italy that have NO evangelical church? Imagine what the Lord could do through us if we were on Italian soil instead of still here in the States!

To date, we have raised almost 50% of our monthly budget. We're halfway there, but we need your help to make up the difference that will literally "BOOT" us out of the country and propel us into the ministry God has called us to in Italy.

Would you be willing to sacrifice a little earthly treasure each month in order to change someone else's eternity? Will you help "Give Us The BOOT"? Just click here to let us know. Together we can make a difference in the lives of Italians!

Kids' Korner

As preparation for our departure, we've been spending part of our homeschool time learning about Italian culture. We went to the library and checked out every book on Italy in the children's section (well, maybe not every one) and lots of videos. So far we've memorized all the regions of Italy, played BINGO with Italian vocabulary words, and the kids have each cooked an Italian meal!

Bryson and Laynie both picked a recipe from a kids' Italian cookbook. Then they each made shopping lists of the ingredients they would need, which they shopped for themselves (with a little help and money from Mom and Dad). Laynie's dinner was first and she picked lasagna for her meal. No small feat for an 8-year-old! The next night, Bryson made homemade pizzas, including from-scratch dough for the crust!

Both of the meals were delicious and we all greatly enjoyed the cooking and the eating! We're looking forward to the opportunity to cook together for our Italian neighbors when we get to Italy.

Quick Prayer Points

We have declared November 10 as our 2011 Day of Prayer and Vision. TEAM recommends that we do this once a year to seek the Lord about His plan for the coming year. We have been blessed with the use of a cabin in the the North GA mountains and plan to spend that day in the peaceful atmosphere, fasting and praying for God's continued favor and provision during this time of support raising and also for God's plan for our family over the next year as we prepare to depart for the field and then settle into our new home and ministry in Italy. Please join us in prayer on that day for God to make His will known to us.

We are only $250 away from having raised 50% of our total budget! That means we only need 1 more person at $100/mo and 3 more people at $50/mo to put us over the halfway mark! Please pray that God would lead us to the people He has destined to fill those spots!

Clothing

Italians want to keep a bella figura (good impression) in front of others. This is seen in their homes and in their dress. Italians love fashion and enjoy dressing up. Many of the world's most reknown fashion designers are Italian, and of course Milan is one the fashion capitals of the world.

Italians seem to always be dressed nice, even if they are just running to the store to buy milk. While in the US, it's not that rare to see people in pajama-type clothes in the grocery store or out running errands. An Italian would never go outside in his/her pajamas. The only time you will see an Italian in sweat pants is if they are on their way to the gym.
