Donate Khaki Pants to Help the SWAT Group!

The SWAT students are dressing up!  The hospital is purchasing matching shirts for each student in the SWAT class and the students have decided they would like to wear khaki pants with them as well. For some students this will be a financial hardship. As you go through your clothes to donate or yard sale please keep in mind the SWAT class.  They would appreciate khaki pants in all sizes; boys, girls, mens and womens.  Please give them to; Sheila Sparks, Joe Davis, Pam Shamblin, Bob Holmes, or Jim Mcfarland. The SWAT class has a mailbox at the high school or you can take them to the white house on Missouri Avenue.

BASE Is Still Accepting Applications

BASE is still accepting applications for the 2010-2011 year.  BASE "Before and After School Program" is a scholastic program that runs one hour before school and two hours after school each full school day through out the year.

The sliding scale fee is $10.00 per week to $20.00 per week depending on the financial status of the family and whether they are parent pick up or bus transportation. New this year, BASE has attained license exemption from the Missouri Department of Social and Senior Services, Child Care Reimbursement Division. This means that for those families that qualify there will be no charge to the parent for the child(ren) to attend. Instead the state will pay for their participation.

Applications for enrollment, child care reimbursement, parent handbooks and other information are available at each of the three participating school offices: (South Fork, West Plains Middle, West Plains Elementary, and on line under programs, BASE, useful links).

Quote of the Week

(An excerpt from the Musical Theatre International's website.)

"Some athletes do become our country's leaders and our children's role models (and some do not). Some "uncool geeks" may amount to nothing but unfulfilled dreamers and others will change our world forever in a remarkable way. (Hello... Albert Einstein!) Encourage the dreamers... protect intellectual property... even if it's invisible... nurture your 'special' kid...you never know!" (Gershon)
