WPHS Fall Musical

A Message from Greg Carter:

As this year comes to a close, the theatre and music departments must begin looking at next years musical production. We have looked at several shows, but do not have a feel for who may audition and what vocal talent we have.

Next week David Hall and Gigi Ivey(A professional opera singer!) will meet with willing students to find out their vocal range. The meetings will be Tuesday May 18th, during advisory in the Mr. Halls room, and Thursday May 20th, during advisory and after school in Mr.Halls room. Again, the idea here is to just get an idea of vocal ranges so we can pick a successful show. Please send all the kids you have!  IT DOESN'T MATTER IF THEY THINK THEY CAN SING OR NOT!!! SEND THEM AND WE CAN USE THEM!

For some reason, participation in the musicals has been dwindling the last few years. It is the teams vision ( Theatre and Music), to involve every student and every program so all students can succeed and so the shows can be amazing! We need every student, from sports, choir, band, clubs, and everyone across our school to participate. Only if we join together can we ever truly be great! I also excited because we are looking at one modern musical in particular that I think the students will be excited about it and ready to get onboard!

  • The volleyball program will be doing various fundraisers throughout the summer to hopefully be able to pay for a portion of these camps (excluding Zizzer Camp).  More information about these fundraisers will be shared later.
  • While open gyms and summer off-season practices are not required, it is very beneficial to attend as much as possible to allow players to practice skills before tryouts in the fall.  While in NO WAY will a player be punished for not attending, keep in mind that those who DO attend will be further along with basic volleyball technique and skill.
  • Please help get the word out of these dates to anyone interested in trying out for high school volleyball for the 2010-2011 school year.
  • Information regarding the volleyball summer schedule will be handed out May 20 and 27.
  • If there are any questions or concerns, feel free to call Coach Erin Lovelace at 256-6150.
