Dear Mr. Tech |
|
Poor Fuel Mileage
Dear Mr Tech:
I have a 2004 Dodge Durango and I am starting to notice my fuel mileage is getting worse. Do you have any suggestions that will help me get my mileage back up?
Frustrated in WP
Dear Frustrated:
In many cases your car will start showing poor fuel mileage for numerous reasons. It could be you need to change your fuel filter. If you have a lot of miles on your vehicle then maybe a tune up (change spark plugs and wires?). Also at the age of your vehicle it is possible that your catalytic converter, which is part of your exhaust, may be getting plugged up. If this were the case, a replacement converter would be required. Also, check your tire pressure, many times it's the little things and not the most expensive things that helps maintain your car. Hope this helps cure your frustration.
Thanks Mr Tech.
If you have an automotive repair question you don't know the answer to, let Mr. Johnson and his class research the question and send you back an answer. Mr. Tech gives students and faculty a chance to ask questions regarding their automobile. Questions that may cost them hundreds of dollars if not dealt with correctly. Mr. Tech can possibly answer such questions as "Do I need to change the filter in my transmission?" or "What is that squeaking noise I hear in the front of my car?" Please email your questions to ajohnson@zizzers.org |

West Plains R-VII recently received outstanding results on the annual school bus inspection program conducted February 24th, by the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Overall, 100% of the 36 buses owned by the District were approved on the annual safety inspection.

These awards are provided to school districts with initial inspection rates of 90% or better and will be presented during the Missouri Association of Pupil Transportation (MAPT) Conference in July 2010.
In addition, this year will mark the 5th year in a row West Plains R-VII District received 90% or better and the 2nd year in a row the District received 100% or better.
"I just want to thank the Troop G Headquarters for helping us maintain such high standards in school safety and I also want to the thank my mechanic, Ron Hayes, and his assistant, Gust Steckman, for the outstanding job they do in keeping the buses safe for our kids," said Robert Pekarek, Transportation Director for West Plains R-VII Schools.
Each year, the Missouri State Highway Patrol conducts the inspections statewide to ensure all buses meet school bus regulations and safety standards. Congratulations to our outstanding Transportation Department. |
