United Methodist Children's Home
Work Day Offering
The United Methodist Children's Home is a safe haven for abused children and youth, and has been since 1871. They provide a loving and safe home for children through residential programs, which are foster care for children of all ages, and independent and transitional living for older youth. They also work to prevent abuse and keep families together. The goal of the Children's Home is for everyone they serve to find their "Forever Family" - what they call permanency. Whether that is through adoption, reunification, staying together or standing on their own, they help children, teens and families find their home.
What is the Work Day Offering? The Work Day Offering for the Children's Home is taken once each year by the churches of the North Georgia Conference to provide a significant portion of the operating income of the Children's Home. Since the early 1900's, church members have been asked to contribute one day's pay to the Home. When you give to the Work Day Offering, you are spreading seeds of hope. Hope to people like Jackie*, who came to live with her children in their Family Housing program. Jackie was depressed and hopeless before she found the Children's Home: "I was ready to give up. Y'all gave me life." Changing Jackie's life means changing her children's lives. And perhaps her children's children. She can pass on a new legacy - one of hope. It's the same hope the Children's Home is sharing with Sarah*, a girl seeking counseling from the Children's Home. Before, she felt "forgotten"; thanks to your help, the Children's Home can show her God's love and plant seeds of hope in her life.
The mission of the United Methodist Children's Home is to provide redemptive, healing services that bring meaningful change to the lives of children and families. Grounded by scripture and the tradition of the church, they seek to bring the wholeness of God's love to persons through Christ. Please prayerfully consider making a contribution to the Work Day Offering this Sunday, September 18.
