The Great Day of Service is Here Saturday, April 17 is the day. This is the schedule: 7:30 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. - Kick off your service with a fundraising
breakfast for the Philippines mission trip in Hancock Hall.
Donations accepted. 8:30 a.m. - Gather for prayer and communion before we go out
and serve Noon or before - all projects are completed.
Choose from three areas to serve: 1. Hancock Hall - sewing and stuff pillows for cancer and
hospice patients, making simple blankets for NICU babies,
coloring and writing cards for soldiers, making prayer
shawls, sharpening pencils, making sack lunches for our
homeless population. All ages. 2. Parking Lot/Front of Church - Free food distribution of
10,000 pounds of food, medical checks (blood pressure,
glucose, vision), guiding guests to medical checks, writing
down information from medical checks, carrying food for
guests, setting up/breaking down, distributing food to
guests. Ages 5 and up for food tasks, 12 and up for medical
helping tasks. 3. Our Daily Bread on Oconee Street - Spring spruce-up for
Athens Urban Ministries including landscaping a flower bed,
pressure-washing porch and sidewalks, painting porch and
railings, installing four planter boxes, blowing leaves and
debris, picking up litter, raking leaves, cleaning gutters,
general clean-up. Outside work for ages 10 and up for most
tasks.

UMW Spring Luncheon The annual Spring Luncheon sponsored by the UMW will be Sunday, April 18 in Hancock Hall following the eleven o'clock worship service. The program will be presented by Dr. Douglas Bailey of the UGA Department of Horticulture speaking on "Flowers of the Bible." Reservations are required and should be made by calling the church office no later than Tuesday, April 13. Cost of the meal is $10.00 to be paid at the door. All are invited to come and enjoy this time of food and fellowship.

Communion Server Orientation
Are you already a Communion server, but would like to become better acquainted with the process of serving Holy Communion? If you would like to learn about the process, please join us in the Sanctuary after the 11 o'clock worship service on April 25. We will begin at 12:15 p.m. for a brief, 30-minute orientation about serving Holy Communion. Join us on Thursday, April 22 at 12:30 in Hancock Hall for our April fun. Our entertainment will be the incredible 50-member Reynolds Plantation Chorus. They are one of the finest in the state and performed the Christmas program for the Ritz Carlton at Lake Oconee this past season. They will sing Broadway hits, spirituals and some of your favorite Broadway hits from the fabulous fifties. Confirmation Class for Adults & Older Youth This class is for adults and older youth [7th to 12th grade] who desire to be baptized and confirmed and to join AFUMC. There are five sessions that lead to the important step of claiming faith in Jesus Christ. Class will now begin on Wednesday, April 14, at 6:30 p.m. in Room 119. Class participants will be invited to celebrate their baptisms, confirmation and membership in the church on Pentecost Sunday, May 23. Young Married Couples Study
Young Married Couples that do not have children: Please join us for a 6-week Sunday School class beginning Sunday, April 11, 11:00 - 11:45 a.m. in the John Wesley Room (Rich, will you add the room number) where we'll study the book of Ephesians to answer the question "How Do You Walk the Walk You Talk?"
