ATHENS MUSIC HISTORY TOURS
OFFERED DURING AthFest

Athens, Georgia- June 17, 2011 - The Athens Welcome Center and Classic City Tours will again offer walking tours of Athens music history June 24 - 26 during AthFest. The newly re-vamped Walking Tour of Athens Music History will be hosted by local raconteur and former Side Effect, Paul Butchart. Tour-goers will enjoy an in-depth exploration of the early scene that cultivated Athens' rich musical heritage. Paul knows it well and has many great stories to prove it. Walks will cover the many 40 Watt Club locations, Steeple, and Murmur trestle (to name a few), along with surprise 'insider' stops along the way. Approximate running time is two hours. Walking tours depart from the Athens Welcome Center at 280 E. Dougherty St. at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, and 10:30 a.m on Saturday & Sunday during AthFest.

Several Athens hotels are offering AthFest packages, which include overnight accommodations plus wristbands, AthFest compilation CDs and  t-shirt vouchers. The Athens Convention & Visitors Bureau has posted the package and participating hotels at www.VisitAthensGA.com/athfest.
