Athens, Georgia- Oct. 21, 2010- Athens nightclubs are world-renowned for their live music, and the scene doesn't get any better than on Halloween, when bands and fans dress in wild costumes. Make a weekend out of the ultimate adults-only Halloween party!

Early-evening entertainment begins both Friday and Saturday at 5:30 at Terrapin Brewery (265 Newton Bridge Rd., www.terrapinbeer.com), just named one of America's Top 10 Breweries by TripAdvisor.com, with Tasting glasses are just $10 and they come with tickets good for up to eight sample pours of Terrapin's staple and seasonal beers, including Pumpkinfest.  In addition to tours and tastings, there is live music by Eli Truett on Friday and Albatross on Saturday. 

 

A haunted edition of the Athens Heritage Walks tour series will take place October 28 - 31 at 7 p.m. nightly.  Jim Barrow will lead an Athens Haunted History Walking Tour featuring ghostly stories from downtown Athens and UGA's north campus.  Tour is limited to 25 participants.  for information and reservations, contact the Athens Clarke Heritage Foundation at 706.353.1801, www.achfonline.org, or achftours@bellsouth.net.

  

The Next to Last Festival, now in its third year, offers an exciting and dynamic platform of musical and artistic discovery by 70+ artists in several local venues October 27 - 31.  Headliners include legendary writer and composer Van Dyke Parks, poly-rhythmic Bronx group ESG and Music Tapes.  Festival-goers will revel in the spooky, celebratory spirit of All Hallows' Eve weekend with haunted performances such as Halloween Live, which takes the classic film to new heights with the addition of a multi-media live performance. All-weekend wristbands are available for $35 in advance or $40 during the festival.  Tickets to individual performances are also available. The Wild Rumpus Parade is also back this year, taking to the sidewalks of downtown Athens at 9 p.m. on Saturday, October 30.   In the style and spirit of events like Burning Man, the Wild Rumpus provides an organized, safe and highly visible outlet for the gleeful abandon of throngs of costumed adults.  For more information, including meet-up location, key costume guidelines and local ordinances to keep in mind, visit www.WildRumpus.org
