Meetings & Conventions Updates

Meeting GA CtrThe CVB's Meetings & Conventions team closed out FY 10 with a strong June, booking five new meetings representing a projected 4,750 room nights and estimated direct spending of $4.9 million.

An Athens sales team of CVB, Classic Center, Hotel Indigo, and Motel Enterprises representatives headed to Atlanta on June 29-30 for a sales blitz.  Two groups participated on each day, seeing approximately eight prospective clients per day per group, for a total of 32 new contacts.

The North Georgia United Methodist Conference has again selected Athens as host for 2011, 2012, and 2013.  Support from the entire Athens community has made this group feel at home and eager to return.  The Methodists, along with other groups, are hopeful that The Classic Center will be expanded to accommodate their growth and generate additional spending at the same time.
