Youth Radio Development Officer Jabari Gray and Peer Teacher Myles Bess aired on KQED's "Forum With Michael Krasny" for a conversation between local African American men about the Trayvon Martin shooting. Click here to listen. Gray also sat down with his father Gerald Gray to discuss how racial profiling has affected their multi-racial family. This conversation, along with youth responses to race and the murder of Trayvon Martin, appeared on Turnstyle and aired on KALW.

Winter Core and Bridge Students Graduate
Youth Radio held a vibrant graduation ceremony for Winter Core and Bridge graduates this month. Tyler Brown, Senior Audio Advertising Producer at Pandora Internet Radio, delivered the keynote address. Youth Radio Board Member Richard Raya presented certificates to Core and Bridge graduates. The ceremony was followed by dinner from Youth Radio Eats and a lively performance from Youth Radio's Remix Your Life.

Seven time Academy Award-winner Gary Rydstrom Talks With Youth After His Presentation

Youth Radio unveiled its soundscape and color installation, Color and Climate: A Vertical Landscape of Sound, at a packed event earlier this month. The installation is the outcome of Youth Radio's collaboration with visual artist Lois Wachner Solomon. Gary Rydstrom, Academy-Award winning sound designer and Youth Radio board member, delivered an interactive presentation on his process designing sound for movies like Titanic, Star Wars Episode I and Saving Private Ryan. The event also showcased the work of Ms. Solomon and graphic artist Jonathan Holt.

Youth Radio Investigates on National Geographic
"What Air Pollution Sounds Like In L.A." by Youth Radio's Sayre Quevedo was published on National Geographic's NewsWatch Blog. Part of the NSF-funded Youth Radio Investigates series, the piece is an interview between Sayre and UC Berkeley professor Greg Niemeyer, who takes air quality measurements in Los Angeles and turns them into music.
