Dear Friends of Youth Radio,
This week, Congress is set to vote on a proposed budget to defund public media with major cuts to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. At stake is the voice of independent media organizations who receive funding from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, including Youth Radio.
As a voice for disenfranchised young people, Youth Radio's work over the years has resulted in its award-winning Youth Radio Investigates series, its in-depth coverage of the recent Oscar Grant trial, and the launch of Turnstylenews.com , a multi-media news site focused on 18-34 year olds.
Youth Radio asks for your help during this urgent time by registering your support for public media on 170MillionAmericans.org. Why 170,000,000? Each month, 170,000,000 Americans turn to a network of 368 public television stations, 934 public radio stations, hundreds of public media online services and more for non-partisan news, cultural programming and educational programs.
It's time for 170,000,000 Americans to say, "No!" to these efforts to defund public broadcasting. It's time for 170,000,000 Americans to say, "Yes!" to protecting our unique public broadcasting assets.
Show your support for Youth Radio, and lend your name to 170MillionAmericans.org.
