Youth Returning to Parents' Health Insurance on NPR's Morning Edition
Molly Adams
Molly Adams
"(Two years ago), I became an official independent adult. That rite of passage was graduating college and being removed from my parents' health insurance coverage. And since then I haven't been able to find an affordable plan as a single person who works three different jobs. ~ Molly Adams

As part of Youth Radio's Generation Invincible series on health care for young Americans, Molly Adams explains why she is trying to get back on her parents' health plan.

Drop That Knowledge Across the Nation
Over 100 guests poured into Youth Radio's Media & Technology Center in downtown Oakland to attend a book release event for Drop That Knowledge: Youth Radio Stories earlier this month.

Youth Radio Senior Producer and Research Director, Elisabeth "Lissa" Soep, PhD, and former Youth Radio participant Vivian Chavez co-authored the book, which gives a unique inside look at the success of the organization's programs over the last two decades.

The event began with a special live recording of Streets Is Talking Radio, followed by an electrifying multimedia rendition of "Hope" Out of the Box, a commentary by Youth Radio Producer Orlando Campbell, which originally aired on National Public Radio.

The evening was highlighted by a panel discussion on the intertwined futures of journalism and education, moderated by Youth Radio M.A.T.C.H. Manager Belia Mayeno Saavedra. Panelists included Soep and Chavez as well as Hodari Davis of Youth Speaks, Glynn Washington, host of Snap Judgment, and Youth Radio graduates Asha Richardson and Sayre Quevedo.

Youth Radio Eats provided yet another amazing culinary experience for everyone in attendance.

Soep will be in Washington DC on October 12th at the famed restaurant, bookstore, fair trade market and gathering place Busboys and Poets for another Drop That Knowledge event. If you are planning on being in the area, please RSVP to drop by and join her!
