FORMS TRAINING
Forms, or hyungs, are patterns of fundamental attack and defense movements set to a fixed sequence. Historically, these patterns were from a re-enactment of a hunt or a fight. Today forms are performed as floor routines for competition, training, and exercise. Doing forms allows Ho-Am TaeKwonDo practitioners to practice basic techniques, learn to step into different stances, improve balance, work on focus, control breathing, develop fluid and smooth movements, and enhance mental development through memorization, all while executing a visually pleasing piece of performance art. Forms are the foundation of H-Am TaeKwondo and should be practiced daily, as each is a lesson in itself. Hyungs are the TaeKwonDo equivalent of Chinese Tai Chi.

Equipment Requirements
 Parents and students are reminded that all students will be required to demonstrate contact skills at their next testing. Focus Targets are available for purchase at the Academy to help students practice these techniques. Each student should have a focus target as part of their equipment. Also, Level 3 Green, Blue and Brown Belts will be required to board break at the next testing. All Red and Black Belts will also be required to break for their next rank. Focus targets are great for practicing breaking, but an even better piece of equipment is the rebreakable board. These are also available for purchase. Please see a member of our staff to purchase these essential pieces of gear.

Dear Parents and Students,
Thank you to all the Black Belts, parents, and students for honoring our family with your beautiful plaque, It is hanging proudly above the desk in the command center!
This week is FORMS week. We will be focusing our efforts on Ho Am forms. Remember, forms training is meant to enhance your sparring capabilities. They are graceful and artistic, but do have a purpose in developing your fighting skills as martial artists.
We will also be working to make each and every basic technique the best it can be. The best TaeKwonDo comes from an understanding of the basic stances, kicks, blocks and punches.
Because the emphasis in the classroom this week will be forms, we ask that all students please practice their sparring drills at home this week.
Parents and students are reminded to login to itaonline.com and make sure that their membership dues are current, so that they will be able to register for upcoming events. White Belt students and new Tiger Cubs will be pre registered. White Belt students have their memberships paid for the first 60 days. All other students must have their memberships current. Membership in the Tiger Rock Martial Arts, Inc allows you to participate in rank testings, tournaments, and gives you visitation privileges to all Tiger Rock franchised schools in the US and other countries.
