Greetings!
Joy to the world!
Yes, I know Christmas is over, but as we move into the New Year my focus rests on the 'world'. I believe there is a very good reason for this. God cares about the 'world' and that means I should too.
It is easy to focus on those in need close to home, in fact, some of them live in our homes! It is much more difficult to look beyond our own communities, states, and country... but we must! And Chicktime has made a commitment to do just that in 2011.
Included in this newsletter is an article highlighting a global opportunity. Each month we will highlight something one of our members is doing to help God's children somewhere in the world.
Please send us your stories and we will pick one each month to publish in our new Global Awareness section. We want to encourage you and help share the vision God has given you to make the 'world' a better place.
With joy,
Lori
Chicktime Founder
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16).

Chicktime Hope...
Chicktime Hope developed from the passion of Chapter Leader Kristi Earles who has a heart and a gift to connect people to each other and to relevant causes. Chicktime Hope exists to bring women together to be a voice for those who have no voice and to bring the hope and love of Jesus to San Antonio and the world. We seek to serve the homeless, prisoners, abused and neglected children, the hungry, the hurting and the broken. Chicktime Hope is designed to promote service opportunities in many areas of ministry in and around San Antonio and to other parts of the world as well as introducing dedicated, passionate people to the myriad of opportunities that already exist to serve those in need. If you would like to learn more about Chicktime Hope and join our roster to receive information on upcoming events, please email Kristi directly at hope@chicktime.com or check out our webpage on the chicktime website!
In recent months, Chicktime Hope has "soft-launched" with a number of activities, including supporting Chicktime Canyon Lake at New Life Children's Center, sponsoring a Fall Festival at the SAMM Shelter in San Antonio, and delivering meals to the homeless. Chicktime Hope will hold it's formal launch on Wednesday, January 19th at 7:00 PM. On that date we will be discussing Chicktime Hope events for the next three months which will include raising funds for Human Trafficking Victims, supporting the Children's Hunger Fund and more. Checkout the calendar of events page on the Chicktime website to register for and find out additional information regarding our launch party!

Our worlds shifted last year when we visited Washington DC with a group called 'Women of Vision'. 'We' are a group of Chicktime leaders from various chapters who felt a great desire to advocate on capitol hill for women's and children's issues locally and globally. The trip was so life changing that we came home compelled to make sure not only our families knew we were different, but that our friends would come to know this new and very important part of our souls... and to help light a fire in their souls as these Women of Vision had done for us.
We each see ourselves in a new light... as Global Girlfriends. We no longer feel disconnected to the women who live so very far away. We didn't visit their villages, share hugs, meals, tears, or laughter, we simply heard their stories. Through the week of global speakers and presentations, we felt the pain of mothers who lost their children to curable diseases, the courage of women working their fingers to the bone to provide enough food to simply keep their children alive, the desperation of mothers who had lost their children to the world of human trafficking, the hope of women when given the opportunity to make their lives better through small business loans.
We came away from our trip with a sense of urgency to do SOMETHING... and with a sense of hope that there is an answer: One Woman. If ONE woman in the United States would commit to do something for just ONE woman in a developing country... then lives would change all over the world...for the better.
We love the story of the boy who was walking along the seashore with miles and miles of starfish that had washed up on the shore in front of him. As the starfish lay dying, the boy walked along picking them up and tossing them back into the sea, one by one. An older man came along and said to the boy, "You know, you aren't making any difference. Look at the hundreds and thousands of starfish ahead of you that you won't be able to help." The boy simply bent down and picked up another starfish and as he threw it back into the surf the boy simply said, "Made a difference to that one."
If you would like to make a difference today in the life of a woman who NEEDS you, please visit the World Vision Microfinance website. WV has made it extremely easy for you to financially support women entrepreuners and Chicktime can help you with your questions! Please click on this link which will take you directly to the Chicktime group and a list of our entrepreneurs: World Vision Microfinance Chicktime group. We would also like to encourage you to check out the Women of Vision website and learn more about a chapter in your area. Women of Vision
On a final note, we will be advocating in 2011 for new laws to protect women and children globally. If you would like to join us, please contact info@chicktime.com. By joining us, you will receive news about laws and talking points to discuss by phone with your senators and congressmen as well as opportunities to advocate in person.

Christmas Joy at New Life Children's Center We enjoyed a fun and fabulous morning with the girls at New Life Children's Center on Saturday December 4th! The Crossroads church Praise & Worship team entertained us with lovely music allowing us an opportunity to stop for a moment and honor our Savior! As always, we had a yummy spread of Christmas goodies to enjoy! Santa visited and each girl received a gift and photo with Santa. Thank you so much to everyone that sponsored a gift(s) for these beautiful children, baked a goodie to share and/or gave your time on this morning. Special thanks to Natalie Avalos for her help in coordinating the party and bringing the band, and to Audra Hughes for providing the photography. Our most heartfelt blessings to you in the new year! Come out and play with us!
This will be our last report on the Homes For Our Troops project...for now! On Saturday, December 18th, Josh Stein and his family were handed the keys to their brand new beautiful home in the hill country! We are so proud to have been a part of this project and look forward to the opportunity to join with HFOT on future homes in our area. On December 11th, we had a small, but enthusiastic group install much of the plants and final landscaping touches on the lot. Our thanks to Bobby Barclay of Lakescapes for his tireless efforts to organize the major ground preparation prior to planting; South Texas Growers, Plant Haus and Antique Rose Emporium for the plant donations; and our local Rainbow Play Systems for their assistance in installing the fabulous playground for the girls! Finally, your prayers and financial support have made our contribution to this project possible.
To all of our servicemen & women, thank you for your sacrifice on our behalf! Homes for our Troops is a non-profit organization committed to building new homes for our brave soldiers permanently disabled while serving our country!
Volunteer Needs at New Life New Life is in need of surrogate parents to attend the ARDS intake and exit meetings that the girls have at Trinity Charter School. Normally the girls' parents are the advocates, but since most of them are not allowed contact, we use surrogates. Meetings are held during the day each Wednesday. Surrogates can also tutor their girl one on one during the school day. We have had one person volunteer as a librarian, but could use another to share the responsibility. Each person is needed 2 days each month on Thursday. Help is needed during the school day for the girls to check out library books and to help reshelve books. We have a computerized check out system. Lisa needs helps in the Point Store for 1 1/2 hours each Thursday afternoon...can you cover one day each month?

Cooking is off to an exciting year! We have committed to raise $5000 for CASA of Central Texas and we need your help!! Our strategy is to expand our cooking efforts to include restaurants, bakeries, caterers, and any other culinary avenues to raise money for CASA. If you have a connection with someone in the food industry in Central Texas that might be interested in helping abused children, let us know. For example: we have purchased a few cases of cookbooks from a local chef at cost and are selling them to raise money; a local bakery has volunteered to sell 'cupcakes for CASA' and donate a portion of the proceeds one day each month; we have a local baker who is hosting a cooking class with all proceeds going to CASA. We are open to all creative options and no $$ amount is too low or too high!
We are also hosting monthly tours to learn more about CASA of Central Texas and their work! To find out more about how to register for a tour, click the following link: CASA Voices Tour
For more information about the tours or to hook us up with new culinary avenues, please email us at info@chicktime.com
To order desserts or have a meal catered by PJ (with all proceeds going towards CASA) please contact PJ directly at pjoliver123@yahoo.com

Happy Holidays!
December Chicktime at Bokenkamp started hesitantly as the roster of girls had changed once again, but before long they were all engaged in the creative task of decorating pre-baked cookies by painting on icing and adding sugar sprinkles. And if that wasn't enough sweets on the table, they also enjoyed holiday treats donated by the Cupcake Shoppe. "Arboles" were meticulously decorated with individually painted ornaments and cookie snowflakes were decorated to look like poinsettias! It was obvious which one we see more in the south! With girls from such countries as Guatemala, Chile, Mexico and Brazil represented, we tried to discover a favorite Christmas song, but with no luck. Finally, we jokingly suggested "Feliz Navidad" which was met with such approval, we found it on our music cd and all joined in to sing a loud rendition of our own!
As the morning grew to a close, the girls were quick to thank us all with hugs and watering eyes. We left small gifts with them, but they left bigger ones in our hearts and we all prayed that it would be a Happy Christmas for all, or as we say in Texas, "Feliz Navidad!"

In December, we spread a little Christmas cheer with the sweet children at the Nelson Center in Denton. We gathered for about thirty minutes of caroling with 2 new Chicks playing guitar and singing. After this warm introduction, we shared the Christmas Story from the Gospel of Luke. We spent the remainder of our precious time coloring the large pre-drawn murals of the Christmas Story manger scene. Once our materpiece was complete, we hung it on the wall for all to see! The girls were great singers and artists--very creative!!! The adult Chicks got into it too singing and coloring right along with the children!
On Saturday January 15th, Chicktime Denton is hosting a tea party at the Nelson Center. We hope to make it very girl-girly for these precious girls. The Nelson Center is home to 18 girls, ages 5 to 15, who have been in unhealthy parental, or foster home situations so much so, they need a special environment like the Nelson Center to love, rehabilitate and provide them with life skills. They have been delightful to interact with, and they seem to enjoy our time together, as do we! Usually 6-10 girls are able to attend our events. On the 15th, we will dress up, have a tea party and learn some manners! Our goal is to make them laugh and feel special! If you are unable to attend in January, perhaps next time! Bring a friend. Girl CHICKS age 14 and up are welcome! This is a monthly event. It's great fun to love on these girls! Register for this event by clicking its link under "Upcoming Dates" below. Please contact one of us listed below if you would like to meet at the church to carpool. We LEAVE no later than 9am or a little before. Plan to arrive at the Nelson Center no later than 9:30. Our program starts promptly at 10AM and we have lots to prepare!

SV Encourage Loves...
On Saturday, Dec. 18th, the SV Encourage group visited St. PJ's Children's Home (Chicktime San Antonio's homebase!) and loved on the children in the Kiddie Kottage who range in age from 1 month old to 4 years old. The girls brought a gift for each child, McDonalds Happy Meals, cookies and an easy reindeer craft! The Encourage girls had the opportunity to tour the beautiful facility that these precious angels call home for now.
Many thanks to the moms and dads that accompanied us for the afternoon!
Thank you St. PJ's for trusting us with your precious children!

Chicktime Palestine met on December 18th with the spirit of giving in mind. Carol and Tracy led the month with the Biddell Animal Rescue center in mind! Chicktime girls made dog toys out of socks, tennis balls and water bottles. Dont worry cat people, we didn't forget the cats...ping pong balls were decorated as mice, fish and even birds. Tiny stockings were stuffed with catnip!
Brenda Beazley from B.A.R.C. brought 3 dogs....Cupid, Rhonda and Suzie....to try out our homemade goodies! She told us about ways everyone can help, such as donating old towels, newspapers, blankets and food. You can also volunteer to help in their spay/neuter clinic or just come out and spend time with the animals! You can visit their website at B.A.R.C or if you are looking for the perfect pet try www.petfinder.com where you can find animals currently available for adoption at our local shelter!
To close our great morning we headed over to the animal shelter to hand deliver the toys and goodies! There are no words to describe the joy we felt watching these dogs play with the toys...puppies playing tug-o-war and dogs pouncing on water bottles. It was magical!
A righteous man cares for his animals.......Proverbs 12:10
Coming up January 15 Amy and Maddie are leading a self defense class....so put on your sweats and come join us! The race is on and we will give the winner their pick from our Chicktime Merchandise! The Crisis Center is truly a life line for many women and children in their darkest hour. We are reaching out to friends and family asking for their help with the Samaritans Heart Campaign. By agreeing to help all you have to do is pledge $20 a month for the next year. It is a small amount that can make a HUGE difference. If you would rather make a one-time donation instead that is great too! Every penny helps and no amount is too small (or too big!!!) If you would like a pledge card, please let us know and we will mail one to you or you can mail your donation directly to the Crisis Center at 313 W. Debard, Palestine, TX 75801. After you have signed up, they will mail a monthly reminder to you... How easy is that?! The children had been preparing for weeks to discover and share their special talents during the Chicktime Talent Show on November 20th. They displayed a variety of talents including dancing and singing and artwork. Even the Chicktime Ladies performed a few numbers for the kids. Afterward all the superstars enjoyed snacks while their individual talents were celebrated.
The home is usually overwhelmed with community support during the holidays so Chicktime was asked to provide gifts for the children in lieu of an event. One item that the houseparents noted would be especially meaningful for the residents was new blankets for their beds. The ones they had were worn and faded. While they are grateful for all they have, the home noted that it would be so nice if the kids could have their very own blanket that belonged to them and no one else. So we were asked to buy new blankets for the girls and another local group bought blankets for the boys. The home provided a list with each child's preferred colors and/or characters. On December 23rd Chicktime arrived with a new blanket for each girl in the home. As they unwrapped their gifts you could see how excited they were to receive them and how much it meant to have a blanket all their own.
On January 15th the RGV Chicktime Chapter will host a field trip to a local nature center called El Charco where the children will spend an afternoon exploring nature trails and experiencing the abundance of wildlife that makes the RGV a world class nature watching destination.

On December 18th, Chicktime San Antonio sponsored a Christmas party for the girls at St. PJ's Children's Home at Laser Legend. The girls had a great time playing laser tag and video games. They enjoyed pizza, soft drinks, cookies and a "Happy Birthday Jesus" cake.
The girls all received the oh-so-fashionable Chicktime hoodies, fluffy blankets and gift bags full of lip gloss, hand cream, nail polish, candy and $25 Target gift cards. They were very excited to receive such special gifts.
We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the support we received from so many generous contributors of money, gifts, baked goods and time to show these girls that they are loved. A special "thank you" goes out to Kelly Stewart and her daughter, Kaylee Rocha, for organizing the party. We couldn't have done it without their many hours of planning and hard work rounding up donations.
Blessings,
Donnette, Diane & Annette

Chicktime Smalltown has been blessed since August 2009 to be involved with the girls of the Big Springs Ranch Children's Home, a place for the brokenhearted, abused and abandoned children from all over Texas. At Smalltown we have been so blessed to have 18 of our members step up to be one-on-one mentors for the 18 girls at the ranch. On December 19th, we celebrated Christmas with the girls at the beautiful home of Jan Elliott. We made toasty smores over an open fire, sang Christmas songs, ate homemade tamales and hot dogs...and we bonded. The girls felt so warm and comfortable in Jan's cozy home all decorated for the holiday, and the women felt blessed to be living the Christmas spirit and blessing these young women with their love. Ladies, thank you for being the "Hands and Feet of Christ". In Him, Kimberly Huffstutler, Smalltown

|
What is Chicktime National
|
Chicktime, Inc. is a 501 (c) (3) public charity. With the new Chicktime groups forming, it is important for all members to realize there is a 'parent' organization that each Chick belongs to as well as her local Chicktime Group! We have decided to refer to Chicktime, Inc, the umbrella for our non-profit status as Chicktime National. Chicktime Inc. is our official name... but that is oh so boring!
This is important because in addition to the individual Chicktime group events, Chicktime National will also hold quarterly events as a way to introduce the idea of Chicktime to new friends and to provide opportunities for ALL the Chicks to come together.
Our conversations at the national events always seem to boil down to a common theme... the intrigue that so many women in one room share a common vision! Chicktime National offers a mission or leadership trip each spring, a summer retreat just for fun, as well as our national conventionuld in the fall.
