Greetings!
Have any of you ever wondered why I sign each of my letters 'Joyfully' or 'With Joy'?
The answer is GRACE. We hear that word alot, but until we experience the fullness of grace I'm not sure most of us ever truly know the depth of the meaning.
I think the reason grace exists is that in God's eternal wisdom, he knew we would mess up and need it. The problem with most of us though... we don't want to admit our imperfections... so round and round we go on the carousel of destruction until eventually we break.
There are two kinds of breaking that I have experienced. The good breaking... when I break down and admit I'm helpless to get where I need to go... that I need God to get there. I say this is the good kind because once I take His hand... the grace flows and the provision to get through ANY situation sustains me. The other kind of breaking is the not so good kind. That is the breaking up of everything dear to us because we won't submit to God and admit that His way is the only way. We keep our sin hidden and don't address it.
Today, reach out to someone you trust and admit the weakness you are hiding from everyone. Admit to someone your secret sin and ask them to pray with you. Miracles will overtake you. I can promise you that.
With a joyful heart I close this letter. You see... I am full of His grace... because many years ago I made the decision to begin ridding my life and heart of sin.
I have given my weakness to Him and He has given me His joy.
Always Joyful,
Lori

On Saturday, November 13th, the precious girls at New Life experienced a little inner and outer beauty treatment! Audra Hughes and her handy helper (and cousin) Melissa, happily snapped glamour shots of each girl at her own private photo session! This was after the received the royal make-up session by our "well trained" staff of volunteers. Each girl will receive her glamour shot photo! Many thanks Audra for making this another special treat for the girls. Rhonda Troll, pastor at Bulverde UMC, led our discussion on that beauty which is most important to God - our inner beauty. Each precious girl had the opportunity to express in writing those things that keep them from seeing themselves as beautiful or seperated from the love God has for them. Each of these cards were to be burned in accordance with the scripture "trading ashes for beauty." We are so thankful for each of the volunteers that gave their time this morning and each Chicktime Saturday in our effort to make sure the girls at New Life are beautiful and loved!
Chicktime Canyon Lake has partnered with Homes for our Troops and we have our marching orders! Our big volunteer day is Saturday, December 11. We will be installing plants and other landscape items at the project site. If you can volunteer on Dec. 11, please email us info@chicktime.com as soon as possible. We are still in need of monetary donations to cover the plant and landscape materials costs.
Homes for our Troops is a non-profit organization committed to building new homes for our brave soldiers permanently disabled while serving our country!
Volunteer Needs at New Life New Life is in need of surrogate parents to attend the ARDS intake and exit meetings that the girls have at Trinity Charter School. Normally the girls' parents are the advocates, but since most of them are not allowed contact, we use surrogates. Meetings are held during the day each Wednesday. Surrogates can also tutor their girl one on one during the school day. We are in desperate need of a volunteer librarian. The volunteer needs to be available during the school day (one day a week) for the girls to check out library books and to help reshelve books. We have a computerized check out system.

This month we met up with the girls at Gospel Ministries. This is a place for kids to come after school for safety, snacks and to learn about Jesus. We volunteered to help them pack large ziploc baggies with items to send to Juarez, Mexico. These bags will be given to children who come hear about Jesus and afterwards, they receive a "present" for being there. Packing the bags was fun and we "oohed and aahed" over many of the little items going in the bags. Imagine US getting excited over finding some chapstick or colored hair bands in a box of miscellaneous items! We knew the children would be even MORE excited to have these items as their own.
Currently, there are only 3 girls at the Concho Valley Girls Home. Of the three, one is about to go home and the other is on a probationary period to see if she can stay. Please continue to pray for these young girls, they each are so special.
Merry Christmas from the

November's Chicktime at Bokenkamp was held on the 20th with several new girls in attendance. Cathy Leal prepared a fun project for the girls and volunteers! Everyone got creative and crafty making desktop message centers. The girls stamped, cut & created unique works of art that expressed their individual styles.
We ask everyone to join us in remembering these girls in your prayers, as the holiday season is a very sad & difficult time for them. We will be bringing a little Christmas cheer their way at our December Chicktime, which will be held on the 18th and will be a cookie decorating Christmas party!

Our event on Saturday, November 13th was great! We had 9 volunteers with 8 resident girls from the Nelson Center. We were blessed to have another group of ladies from a local church attend and help us with the event as well. We set up 4 tables with games such as Bunko, Mexican Train, Uno, Skip Bo, cards and had apples and grapes to munch on. We had a blast!!!! One of the girls from the church group brought about 10 hoola hoops! The hoola hoops were a HUGE hit!!!! It was so much fun! Although we had a great time laughing, playing, eating and just talking, the greatest part of the morning was when we were standing in the cafeteria waiting on the girls to join us. We were all so excited to see the girls again, and a little anxious to see if they were going to be excited to see us. When the doors flung open, the girls RAN to us giving us high fives and hugs. This is why we do what we do!!!

Encourage Tejeda Hits Chicktime San Antonio
The girls of Encourage Tejeda set out to serve the community this Thanksgiving and what better way to serve, but to help a local Chicktime Chapter conduct their monthly activity. The group showed up at St. Peter's/St. Joseph's children's home with instructions that they were going to help lead craft projects for the teenagers that live in the home. The girls participated hand in hand with their new friends at St. PJ's never knowing how impactful a few hours on a Saturday morning could be to the hurting teens, but also to their own heart. From the moment they arrived the Holy Spirit used them to carry out Chicktime San Antonio. Special thanks to all the Encourage Tejeda moms who helped transport the girls to the home (bright and early)!
It is our desire to grow these girls to know Jesus Christ as their personal savior and to be HIS disciples. How exciting that Chicktime was part of the journey!
All for His glory,
Diane Godwin and Donnette Tyler

"For I was hungry, while you had all you needed. I was thirsty, but you drank bottled water. I was a stranger, and you wanted me deported. I needed clothes, but you needed more clothes. I was sick, and you pointed out the behaviors that led to my sickness. I was in prison, and you said I was getting what I deserve." -Paraphrase of Matthew 25 by Richard Stearns, president of World Vision
The SV Encourage crew joined with a group from the SV FACS group to prepare and serve breakfast to the homeless congregation of Church Under the Bridge. CUB gathers each Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday to worship, share the Word and enjoy a meal together out in the open for all to see and join in. We were blessed by Pastor Greg Goodrich's message as well as the opportunity to join in providing some spiritual as well as physical food for this precious community. Thank you God for smiling on us this day!!

Service Reminder...
At our orientation we challenged each other to sign up at least 5 people a piece for The Good Samaritan Project!!! The race is on and we will give the winner their pick from our Chicktime Merchandise! The Crisis Center is truly a life line for many women and children in their darkest hour. We are reaching out to friends and family asking for their help with the Samaritans Heart Campaign. By agreeing to help all you have to do is pledge $20 a month for the next year. It is a small amount that can make a HUGE difference. If you would rather make a one-time donation instead that is great too! Every penny helps and no amount is too small (or too big!!!) If you would like a pledge card, please let us know and we will mail one to you or you can mail your donation directly to the Crisis Center at 313 W. Debard, Palestine, TX 75801. After you have signed up, they will mail a monthly reminder to you... How easy is that?! Celebrating the Holiday Season at Chicktime San Antonio
Crafts! Crafts! and More Crafts! On November 20th, Emily Alexander,
Lesli Rodriquez and Ashleigh Pepper led Chicktime San Antonio by helping the girls at St. PJ's get ready for the holiday season. Three stations of different Christmas crafts were set up which allowed the girls to work at their own pace. Once a craft was done, they just got up and went to the next station until all were complete. The girls even made a Christmas decoration for their room!
The girls also made homemade Christmas cards to be given to soldiers through the organization, Soldiers Angels. The girls used stamps and other art supplies to create unforgettable cards for care packages for the troops. This activity helped the girls know how they can make a difference. Special thanks to Mari Alexander, who got all the supplies and did all the prep work, but got sick and was unable to attend!
Snacks were provided by Encourage Tejeda.
What a blessing it is to serve!

What are you thankful for? Chicktime Smalltown and the Girls of Big Springs Children's Ranch spent this month's get-together doing a service project for the men and women serving our country overseas. We are thankful for all our troops who will be spending their holidays away from their loved ones while they defend our freedom. Christmas will be coming soon and we can't help but wonder how many will be alone on a cold Christmas Eve in a land far from home. May God hold each person in the military in the palm of His hand and may each member of the military and their families be surrounded by God's angels of love and protection.
God Bless You...
December's event will be a Holiday Celebration...we will meet up with the Girls of Big Springs on December 19th at Jan Elliott's home for some hot chocolate, hot dogs and s'mores over the fire. What is Chicktime National
|
Chicktime, Inc. is a 501 (c) (3) public charity. With the new Chicktime groups forming, it is important for all members to realize there is a 'parent' organization that each Chick belongs to as well as her local Chicktime Group! We have decided to refer to Chicktime, Inc, the umbrella for our non-profit status as Chicktime National. Chicktime Inc. is our official name... but that is oh so boring!
This is important because in addition to the individual Chicktime group events, Chicktime National will also hold quarterly events as a way to introduce the idea of Chicktime to new friends and to provide opportunities for ALL the Chicks to come together.
Our conversations at the national events always seem to boil down to a common theme... the intrigue that so many women in one room share a common vision! Chicktime National offers a mission or leadership trip each spring, a summer retreat just for fun, as well as our national conventionuld in the fall.
