Greetings!
Your voice.
Only you can use it. If you don't... the passion in your heart will go unheard. The people you are here to help will go unnoticed. And a piece of you will begin to perish because you aren't fulfilling your destiny.
I challenge each of you to figure out who you were placed on the planet to help and then use your voice to make a difference in their world. Maybe you are supposed to call your senators and ask for better laws to protect children thrown into the world of human trafficking. Maybe you are supposed to speak on behalf of the environment and move others to care too. Maybe you are supposed to tenderly coo to infants abandoned at local shelters. Maybe you are supposed to share the plight of the disadvantaged poor with those of influence. And maybe, just maybe you are supposed to use your voice today.
If you aren't sure what you are supposed to use your voice for... ask God. Then get quiet and wait for Him to answer. He will. I promise. And if you need help hearing Him, I'm here to help you find your voice. It is a passion of mine. It is selfish really. When you use your voice, and he uses his voice, and she uses her voice... my world gets better! :)
With joy,
Lori Chicktime Founder
"Nothing that I can do will change the structure of the universe. But maybe, by raising my voice I can help the greatest of all causes - goodwill among men and peace on earth." Albert Einstein

In early April, 2010, I had specifically prayed that God would open a door for me to work with children who did not have a mother or father that held them with safe, loving, faithful arms. This prayer came out of a lifelong desire to one day foster or adopt a child...to "save" that child from a world of hurt and provide them with a chance at life with family and most importantly with our Lord and Savior. It was early spring when the message was clear and I knew fostering or adoption would not be a reality for my family. After much grief and anger and praying desperately for God to change His mind, I started praying a different prayer. A prayer that could have only come from the Holy Spirit. I prayed, "Lord if it is not your plan for my family to adopt, please place something in my life that would allow me to use my gifts and love for you to impact a child's life." The very next Sunday, my life group teacher came to class and told us about this organization she was introduced to, Chicktime. She announced that Chicktime was praying for and believing that a leader would emerge to start Chicktime Denton. Needless to say, after hearing about the ministry and the work that was Chicktime, I sat there stunned, my jaw on the floor. "Ask and you shall receive!". There was no doubt that God was at work. There was no doubt in my mind or soul that this was meant for me to do. After meeting with Lori and taking a tour of The Nelson Center, I was ready to go full speed ahead. Satan had a different plan. For several months, he threw dagger after dagger at me to get me to doubt the Lord's calling on my life to lead Chicktime Denton. I finally threw my hands up and said, "Lord, I am not your girl! I can not do this!" Well, the Lord had a greater plan! The very next day, 2 dear friends called and texted me and let me know that there were about 10 women who wanted to know all about Chicktime and when we were going to start! Now, a month later, we have completed our first program at The Nelson Center!

Concho Pearls (San Angelo)
|
Chicktime Concho Pearls is stronger than ever and we need your support more than ever before. For those of you who live too far away or haven't had the opportunity to serve with us... we have a special opportunity for you. Although our volunteer base is strong, the girls we serve have entered into a season of weakness. The magnitude of their situation is overwhelming many of them and in reality... they are bringing down the 'whole house'. The overall sense of hopelessness has evaded the culture of the house and as a result they are not moving in the direction of healthy coping. The negative reactions to daily living and stresses has caused these precious girls to lose all privileges, including Chicktime.
PLEASE join us in prayer, for the girls and their staff.
"Dear God, We will fear not for You promise to deliver Your children out of every trouble. You will give the girls, the staff, and the volunteers a vision of victory over the enemy... we pray that the Concho Valley Home for Girls and everyone involved (including me) embraces these promise and lives free... free to run, free to dance, free to live for YOU! In Jesus name we pray. Amen" Ps 54:7

Chicktime Corpus Christi held their monthly event on Saturday, October 23rd. Although it was a busy time of year for volunteers, it was a slow time of year at Bokenkamp. We arrived to find all of the girls we knew, except one, were no longer there. We quickly bonded with the new girls while laughing and dancing to a Zumba Fitness workout. The girls caught their breath making fruit cups to enjoy while they decorated miniature Jack-O-Lanterns. When we asked what the girls would like to do in the future, we were surprised to hear a unanimous response for more "baile"! So a Chicktime Cha-Cha may be in the near future!

Chicktime Denton celebrated our FIRST ever Chicktime day with the girls of the Nelson Center, a home for severely abused and neglected children in our area. The overall consensus from everyone involved... WOW what an amazing day!!! We loaded the church van and 2 cars with 16 women and headed over to the Nelson Center, which is run by Lutheran Social Services of the South!! Once we arrived, we presented the girls of the Nelson Center with their very own Chicktime shirts and then spent the next few hours teaching them how to make their very own flip flops to wear! We are more than thrilled with the success of our first program! Chicktime is open to ANY woman interested in bringing hope, love, and joy to the almost forgotten children in our community. Contact Chicktime Denton leaders for more information: amberlynnw22@yahoo.com, bhyper@gmail.com, or christydawn71@hotmail.com.

Encourage Tejeda got Zapped at Laser Quest!
Encourage Tejeda met on October 9th at Laser Quest for group building and fellowship organized by Terrie Maziek. The girls were able to laugh and let the concerns of middle school go away as they enjoyed a few games of laser tag together. After a couple of games, the girls gathered in a party room for pizza, soda, and cupcakes! We were joined by Ashleigh Pepper, youth minister at Hope Arise Church. Ashleigh talked to the girls about self esteem and made references to the bible where God specifically told us how "HE" sees us. Ashleigh played a couple team building exercises with the girls centered on the self-esteem topic. The evening was closed out with a group prayer where each of the girls had an opportunity to lift up cares and concerns or praises and thanksgiving. What a blessing it is to serve our GOD this way!

May God, who gives you patience and encouragement, help you live in complete harmony with each other, as is fitting for followers of Christ Jesus. Romans 15:5
Encourage Smithson Valley
The SV Encourage crew participated in an amazing event that happens in high school stadiums all over the US on the second Wednesday in October. "Fields of Faith" is a student led event supported by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Our group along with a stadium FULL of students and parents worshipped, heard powerful testimonies from other students, an encouraging word from a pastor and closed with the opportunity to give your life to Christ. Students were invited onto the field for prayer and in the end, a large circle formed on the field with everyone holding hands and praying. Powerful stuff! We are honored to be a part of the Holy Spirit's movement in our community!
The girls also participated in two very fun service projects during the final weekend of the month. They were m&m's at a booth in their name at SV's student council run fall festival for kids and then they got to don their cute costumes again and hand out treats at a local church's pumpkin festival!

On October 16 We had our first 'official' Chicktime, the event that we had worked toward for quiet sometime! Mother and daughter team Regina and Judy were our fearless leaders! We cannot tell you how proud and thankful we are for them being brave enough to sign up to lead our first month! The activity they planned was painting pillowcases! They had everything from paint and ribbon to hot pink feather boas! Chicktime Palestine is a little different in that we do not serve a childrens home....so, we had worried for a long time how this would go over, 'would anyone come?' We prayed 'just let one girl or woman come....just one' So, we got started around 9:15, we had 18 chicks but no girls from the Crisis Center. Trying to be brave we just kept moving forward! Around 9:40 guess who walks in? A lady that is in counseling at the Crisis Center! We had our 1!!! The day continued and the only word we have to describe it is magical (and I know we use that a lot!) We worried about so many things but as Lori sa ys 'When you are walking in the will of God things work out!' Of our 18 Chicks a large group of them were teenagers that came with their moms. It was amazing to see them working on these pillowcases so thoughfully and generously, they all donated the things they made to go into the safe house or to girls going through counseling....to us that is the essence of what we are here for! We are reaching out to these women and children but at the same time we are reaching out to each other! We found it very hard to select pictures to submit for this newsletter article as there were so many memories made!

On a VERY last minute whim, we decided to get a booth at The Party in the Pink. We only had four days to prepare but felt like it was another way to raise awareness for Chicktime Palestine and the Anderson County Crisis Center. UNBELIEVABLE night. There were so many women there that were excited about what we are doing and signed up because they wanted to be a part of it all. We took shirts hoping to sell enough to pay for our booth. Not only did we sell shirts but people were just handing us money and saying, "Here, don't want a shirt just think what you are doing is great". We also entered the Second Glance Thrift Store in the fashion show. We had seven of our Chicktime girls modeling special occasion dresses and halloween costumes. It was another magical Chicktime night that we will not soon forget.
We are working dilligently to prepare for Octoberfest - our biggest, but last event of October. Watch for that in the next newsletter!!
Upcoming dates!! Mark your calendars!
November 20, 2010: 9am - Noon at the Crisis Center (click here to register!)
December 2, 2010: 6pm Ladies Night Out and Fashion Show at the Civic Center
Service Reminder...
At our orientation we challenged each other to sign up at least 5 people a piece for The Good Samaritan Project!!! The race is on and we will give the winner their pick from our Chicktime Merchandise! The Crisis Center is truly a life line for many women and children in their darkest hour. We are reaching out to friends and family asking for their help with the Samaritans Heart Campaign. By agreeing to help all you have to do is pledge $20 a month for the next year. It is a small amount that can make a HUGE difference. If you would rather make a one-time donation instead that is great too! Every penny helps and no amount is too small (or too big!!!) If you would like a pledge card, please let us know and we will mail one to you or you can mail your donation directly to the Crisis Center! 313 W. Debard, Palestine, TX 75801. After you have signed up, they will mail a monthly reminder to you... How easy is that?! Remember also, that Donnie would love to come speak to any church groups, etc. just let him no where and when! 903-723-5858

On Saturday October 30th the RGV Chapter of Chicktime held a Fall Festival for the Rio Grande Children's home in Mission, TX.
The table was set with pumpkins and paint while the children got dressed in their costumes. As the Chicktime gals got the big surprise ready, the superheros with a nerd arrived ready to paint. Then came the princesses in their beautiful chiffon and satin gowns with tiara's on their heads followed by a werewolf. The pumpkin painting began with much creativity. Some pumpkins were painted a different color before faces were added while others remained the happy orange color they were grown to be. After the googley eyes were stuck on, the colorful pumpkins were left on the tables to dry. Each child got a goody bag with a coloring book, paper air plane and other fun stuff. Some colored, some flew their planes and all the kids enjoyed just spending time with their siblings and receiving love and attention from the Chicktime group. The event was time for the kids to explore their creativity and be surrounded by unconditional love and caring that allowed them to feel good about their unique work of art. Earlier in the month Mercy, the children's home volunteer coordinator, had mentioned that the children always asked for nachos but because that snack didn't meet the nutritional requirements the home upholds, they are rarely able to serve them. So the big surprise for them was three extra large bags of corn chips, a big crock pot of melted cheese and jumbo jar of jalapenos. The children were delighted and most came back for seconds and thirds. Once they had their fill of cheesy chips, the Halloween cupcakes and cookies were put out. As the children ate the brightly colored frosted desserts, they continued to enjoy their time with our group and each other. As I looked around the room, everyone was smiling and having a great time. One child had picked a cupcake the same color as her costume and her bright smiling lips were as purple as her sparkly princess dress.
Before the kids returned to their homes, we made sure to get photos of the kids' shadows with the Chicktime ladies holding the beautiful pumpkins, with 16 kids it took us 3 photos to get all the of them in. The event ended with all the children sharing their appreciation for the afternoon of fun, good food and togetherness. Thanks Brenda and Leanne for being our leaders for this great event that was enjoyed by everyone.

The Spirit of Fall With Chicktime San Antonio

We had a last minute change this month. Our original program was supposed to be a basketball clinic with Amie Bradley, Trinity University's head basketball coach. A few days before, we discovered that the infant dormitories at St. PJ's were being remodeled and the gym was now full of babies! With nowhere for the girls to shoot hoops, we decided to change the program. Instead, we got in the fall spirit! We spent time making caramel apples and Halloween snack mix with the girls. Everyone had a great time and we were all quite sticky (but happy) by the end! Special thanks to those who came out to help and to those that donated supplies for this event.
Join us on November 20th for arts and crafts hosted by Mari & Emily Alexander.
Blessings,

We would like to thank each and every one of our members for making our first year of Chicktime Smalltown incredible. Not just for the children we serve, but for each of us as well. Our lives are full of love, joy and purpose and having each of you beside us has allowed our impact to multiply!
As we gathered in October to celebrate this first year together, we also announced our first ever grant. Chicktime Smalltown collectively raised $15,000 and our membership voted on CASA as the grant recipient. To learn more about CASA, please visit www.texascasa.org
The incredibly insightful and inspiring Elisa Morgan was our speaker. She anointed us with her words about 'doing what we can, not everything, just something." You can visit her website www.shedidwhatshecould.com if you would like to get to know her better!
Membership updates: "Most of us care. We really do. We care about poverty and injustice, about orphans, the under privileged and the sick. And yet, weighed down by the everyday tasks in our lives we question our ability to make a difference". Words from our guest speaker, Elisa Morgan, at our Annual Celebration.
But what if we did.....
Something?
Just one thing.
The thing that matters more than anything else in that one solitary moment.
What if we did just that?
What if?
We Did What We Could
Last year, with over 70 members, our membership donations helped raise the $15,000 donated to C.A.S.A. to help abused and neglected children in our area. This year, our goal is to raise $20,000 to provide strong advocacy for every child who needs it. We hope you will join us once again in reaching our fundraising goal. Your annual membership donation can be made in a lump sum payment or in quarterly or semi-annual payments as well. All membership donations go to our grant fund. Please contact me via email or at 830-275-3494 if you have any questions. I have attached a pledge form for you convenience.

|
What is Chicktime National
|
Chicktime, Inc. is a 501 (c) (3) public charity. With the new Chicktime groups forming, it is important for all members to realize there is a 'parent' organization that each Chick belongs to as well as her local Chicktime Group! We have decided to refer to Chicktime, Inc, the umbrella for our non-profit status as Chicktime National. Chicktime Inc. is our official name... but that is oh so boring!
This is important because in addition to the individual Chicktime group events, Chicktime National will also hold quarterly events as a way to introduce the idea of Chicktime to new friends and to provide opportunities for ALL the Chicks to come together.
Our conversations at the national events always seem to boil down to a common theme... the intrigue that so many women in one room share a common vision! Chicktime National offers a mission or leadership trip each spring, a summer retreat just for fun, as well as our national conventionuld in the fall.
