Greetings!
Ever prayed for something for a very long time and finally it comes to pass? Well, I have and I would like to share my story with you.
When Chicktime started to boom this past year (13 new chapters) my life became BEAUTIFULLY full of women and children and lives and schedules of over 1000 volunteers! In addition to keeping up with all the administration that goes along with running a public charity, I somehow managed to continue to raise my three teenagers, keep my marriage full, maintain friendships (and grow new ones), and still find time to help with the design processes of our business.
Earlier this year God showed me that he was sending a helper, He even showed me who she was. I shared this new information with this angel and she revealed to me that God had shown her that helping run Chicktime was to be her calling at this season of her life. We both began to pray for her circumstances to evolve so that she could join me full time.
Today, October 1, 2010 marks that day. And what a joyous time we have had together working today doing our part to ensure that women plug in and children are served... doing our part to encourage women to dance before our God as they move to serve Him in the unique way He created them to do so.
Join me in welcoming Jennifer Clarke as she enters her calling and takes her place!
Joyfully,
Lori Chicktime Founder

We did not have a formal Chicktime in September. We had planned to have a formal Chicktime in September. The plan was to play tennis, but at the last minute they had to wait on a case worker to visit them. We were bummed out! For the month of October, the plan is to go to the Movie Theatre. Plans are pending, so please check the Chicktime calendar for more details. Happy Fall from the Chicktime Concho Pearls!

Chicktime Corpus Christi joined with their children's home for the
Bokenkamp Annual Fashion Sho w & Luncheon Fundraiser on
Saturday, September 25th at the Omni Bayfront Hotel. There was an amazing silent auction and everyone enjoyed the fashions from local retail stores and modeled by very good natured volunteers! The Omni hotel provided a lovely luncheon, too. Pictured at right is the Chicktime Corpus leader, Carolina Sizemore, and Chicktime's own prayer intercessor, Terry Kinsey, affectionately known as "Mama Terry!" Mama Terry has been a blessing to Chicktime and we had the opportunity to recount the many answers to prayer since Mama Terry joined our mission!
Bokenkamp Children's Shelter is an emergency shelter for approximately 60 unaccompanied refugee children from Central and South America, ranging in age from infants to teens. These children have all experienced some form of traumatic separation from their families. Bokenkamp provides short-term care that will leave a long-term impact in these children's lives by offering shelter, education and care.
To learn more about how to serve these kids through Chicktime, contact Carolina at lovepazazdance@yahoo.com

Encourage Tejeda
On Sunday, September 12th, Encourage Tejeda met at Concordia Lutheran Church for a concert-style event including comedy, drama, music, and testimonies provided by a ministry called "Silver Ring Thing". This ministry seeks to encourage purity and abstinence. Although the topic sounds pretty heavy it was delivered in a fun way! Girls in attendance made a pledge to not only their self but to God to "wait" until they are married. They each are now wearing a silver ring to remind them of their commitment and have each other to hold accountable for this biblical decision.
In HIS Service, Diane Godwin and Donnette Tyler
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another." -John 13:34-35
Encourage Smithson Valley
The SV Encourage ladies gathered together at Addie Erhardt's house to kick off the new school year! We had a rousing game of Family Feud specially designed by our game mom extraordinaire, Amie Jurica! Beth Ann led the group with a visual example of what we absorb by living in the world and hope important it is for all of us to stay in the Word to combat the effects of worldly influence! We are sharing morning devos via text (gotta love technology!) each morning in this effort. We are humbled to be a part of these young ladies' lives!
Please contact Beth Ann Erhardt for more information. erhardt5@aol.com

Our orientation was another beautiful and succesful day! It was fantastic! We had approximately 26 chicks present! Every event we have, continues to amaze and inspire Tracy and I both. Thank you all!! The Crisis Center Executive Director Donald Hammock educated us on the cycle of domestic violence. Helped us all undestand why these women stay and why the abusors abuse but most importantly the 5 things we should say. Thank you Donnie for your insight!
Upcoming dates! October 16th is our first Chicktime event. Regina Wilmert will be showing us how to decorate pillowcases. Not sure yet how many victims will attend but I know in my heart that us just being here in our pink shirts is making a difference in these girl lives. So please attend and bring your girls so they can make pillowcases too. In prepararion for the Octoberfest on Oct 30th, we have been meeting on Wed to prepare for the garage sale. There is an overwhelming amount of donations to sort though! We would love to have your help. Also October 30th don't forget the Chicktime float in the October Fest parade. I need ALL of you to ride on the float. We are hoping to spread the word about Chicktime and the Crisis Center and more importantly let the victims of Anderson Couny know that there is an army of us to stand behind them! If you can help with either of these projects, please let us know or sign up on the Chicktime calendar. We are going to need LOTS of Chicks to help us out!! SO, get your pink shirts on and pitch in!! Check out our Calendar!! It is getting full with lots of fun things to do and help make a difference!
Special Request!!!
At our orientation we challenged eachother to sign up at least 5 people a piece for The Good Samaritan Project.!!! The race is on and we will give the winner their pick from our Chicktime Merchandise! This organization is truly a life line for many women and children in their darkest hour. They are reaching out to friends and family asking for their help with the Samaritans Heart Campaign. By agreeing to help all you have to do is pledge $20 a month for the next year. It is a small amount that can make a HUGE difference. If you would rather make a one-time donation instead that is great too! Every penny helps and no amount is too small (or too big!!!) If you would like a pledge card, please let us know and we will mail one to you or you can mail your donation to them! After you have signed up, they will mail a monthly reminder to you... How easy is that?! Remember also, that Donnie would love to come speak to any church groups, etc. just let him no where and when!

Chicktime San Antonio Shakes it Up
On Saturday, September 18th, Chicktime San Antonio hosted Zumba Dancing at St. PJ's Children's Home. Kelly Vizzone, who teaches numerous Zumba classes in the San Antonio area, led the program. It was quite a cardio workout and we all did plenty of sweating, but the girls had a blast! Their favorite part was at the end when they all got a chance to pair up and improvise, showing off their own dance moves for the cheering bystanders. Some of the girls kept begging for "one more song". Everyone was treated to yogurt and fruit parfaits at the end.
On October 16th we will be hosting a basketball clinic at St. PJ's. This will be led by Amie Bradley, head basketball coach for Trinity University.
Blessings,
Annette Goodson, Diane Godwin, and Donnette Tyler

As Christian women we are called to be role models, inspiring the hearts and minds of girls so deprived of unconditional love. For one year now Chicktime Smalltown volunteers have been orchestrating fun activities for the girls of Big Springs Children's Ranch. Some activities are designed to treat the girls, some to teach a lesson, and once in a while to let the girls create something to give to others.
Smalltown volunteers were busy this month getting connected with the girls while learning to make candy and decorate cupcakes and cookies, which were then tied up in pretty packages and delivered to some local "shut-ins" and to teachers and coaches at a local school. We are thankful for the efforts of Lisa, Shae and Skye Baily, who hosted our "decorating for a cause" event and made sure everything was ready for us when we arrived.
It's wonderful to behold how the girls of Big Springs absorb the loving example of the leaders and their daughters. Thank you volunteers and members of Chicktime Smalltown for "Doing What You Can" in our community. We are a blessing in these girl's lives, and they are a blessing in our lives. We are finding out what it means to "Live Loved".
Kimberly Huffstutler
P.S. Join us at Big Springs on Saturday, October 23rd. What is Chicktime National
|
Chicktime, Inc. is a 501 (c) (3) public charity. With the new Chicktime groups forming, it is important for all members to realize there is a 'parent' organization that each Chick belongs to as well as her local Chicktime Group! We have decided to refer to Chicktime, Inc, the umbrella for our non-profit status as Chicktime National. Chicktime Inc. is our official name... but that is oh so boring!
This is important because in addition to the individual Chicktime group events, Chicktime National will also hold quarterly events as a way to introduce the idea of Chicktime to new friends and to provide opportunities for ALL the Chicks to come together.
Our conversations at the national events always seem to boil down to a common theme... the intrigue that so many women in one room share a common vision! Chicktime National offers a mission or leadership trip each spring, a summer retreat just for fun, as well as our national conventionuld in the fall.
