Publication Photo Lori Rhodes colorGreetings!

You are on my heart as I think about all things Chicktime. As you read these pages with me, I bet your mind goes to the same place and you begin to wonder, "Who are these women and how can I support them."

My dear husband is not called to hang out at children's homes, but he is passionate about making sure I get to! So yes, husbands, I was talking about you too when I say YOU are on my heart. Thank you for supporting your wives and your daughters. Don't think it doesn't go unnoticed that you give up your sweet girls as they dance along making the world a better place... they may not be dancing with you all the time anymore... but I guarantee they are becoming better dance partners.

I'm sure you've noticed the added spring in their step and the 'lightness' about them since they began their Chicktime Journey. It is called blessing, and it is a gift from God. Your wives and daughters are walking on Holy Ground as they serve these precious children and the Leader of the Universe has taken notice! I know because I feel the warmth of His smile and so will you as you take in all that is held within these pages!

With Joy,

Lori

About Chosen
Do you know how amazingly special you are? God actually chose you before the world began... "He actually picked you out for Himself as His own!" (Ephesians 1:4). We get so excited about the Chosen message that we want to share it with women everywhere! That's why we created the annual Chosen event to inspire and encourage women with the Chosen message. Since 2006, Chosen has helped transform lives as women receive God's Word in an atmosphere of encouragement, power, and fun! This year's theme is "Chosen To Be An Instrument." We invite you to join hostess Cindy Godwin and come together with your sisters in the family of God as we rehearse God's beautiful music for our lives and see how we can be instruments in our world.

If you would like to attend the Chosen Conference in San Antonio Texas and hear Charlotte and Sandy speak, please join us. Chosen Tickets are available FREE to Chicktime Canyon Lake members. EVERYONE is welcomed and encouraged to join us... but the free tickets are only available to our Canyon Lake members. Please contact lori@mlrhodes.com for more information! The free tickets are limited in number so act fast! The Chosen Conference begins Friday night, October 1 and concludes Saturday October 2. Please visit www.chosensa.com for more information.

Concho Pearls (San Angelo)
Concho Pearls skating sept 2010

We had a fun Chicktime at the Skate Center for August.
We had five girls join us this month.  They were a bit shy
in the beginning to start skating, but little by little they laced
up and started skating.

One of our girls, Michelle left the home this month and we
missed her.  She made the choice to leave and although we
know it was not the wisest decision, she is 18 years old and
had the right to do so.  Please pray for her protection, decision
making, and for her to finish her Senior year of highschool.

We have also had some of our members just spending time with
the girls outside of Chicktime.  They have shared a cook-out and
a dinner/movie night with them.

We're starting to head into fall with some cooler temperatures, so
for our September Chicktime we will be hitting the tennis courts.
Carolyn Taylor is going to show us how to play some tennis.
Join us on Saturday, September 11th at 9am, we'd love to have
you there.

Corpus Christi
CC lots of hands sept 2010CC carolina painting toes 9.2010
Chicktime Corpus Christi arrived at Bokenkamp in full force, armed with lotion, polish, floral nail decals and even a couple of "spa foot baths" to pamper the girls! Each girl began the pampering by choosing her own manicure package with supplies to keep even after the fun was over. Then imaginations took flight! As the morning progressed budding manicure artists emerged with fingers arrayed in the most amazing floral displays. The artistry was fueled by the constant sound of laughter in the room, the memories of which will far outlast the colorful nails that were produced!

Next month Chicktime Corpus Christi will be meeting at Bokenkamp a week earlier on September 18th, to allow everyone to attend Bokenkamp's Annual Fashion Sho

Chicktime Corpus is busy planning our fall/winter events! Please contact Carolina if you would like to lead an event this fall!!! lovepazazdance@yahoo.com

Please save the date for September 25th and plan to join us for a fabulous event supporting our children's home, Boken
kamp Children's Shelter! Bokenkamp Children's Shelter is an emergency shelter for approximately 60 unaccompanied refugee children from Central and South America, ranging in age from infants to teens. These children have all experienced some form of traumatic separation from their families. Bokenkamp provides short-term care that will leave a long-term impact in these children's lives by offering shelter, education and care.

Chicktime Encourage
Encourage Tejeda

Encourage Tejeda met on August 15th at an area subdivision park to kick start our group for the
new school year. We built ice cream sundaes and got caught up with our friends and even met
new ones. The leader of MAD (Making A Difference) bible study that meets at Tejeda middle
school every Tuesday morning came to share with us the plans for the year and invited the girls to
join the group. Pastor Reese Henry of Hope Arise Church shared a message with the girls and
their mothers about how to tackle biblically the challenges a middle school girl goes through. He
also prayed for the teachers and administration at Tejeda and the new school year. The girls
participated in various games to not only have fun together, but to promote unity and encourage
each other. We ended the afternoon with a large circle prayer where the girls and mothers had an
opportunity to pray for friends, family and the school year.
If you know of a 7th grade girl that attends Tejeda Middle school that would be interested in
joining our group, please have them contact us.

Diane Godwin and Donnette Tyler

Chicktime Palestine

Chicktime Palestinehad our kick-off on August 26!  It was fantastic!  We  had approximately 60 chicks present!  We feel so blessed and encouraged by the support we felt from our community.....  Thank you all!! Speakers for the night were our fearless Chicktime leader Lori, and from the Crisis Center Executive Director Donald Hammock and Community Educator Brandon Greene.  Having them here brought an insight into their organization that was priceless.  They are a strong, compassionate voice for the women and children they are serving.

On August 18th we finished up our summer service projects at the Second Glance Thrift Store.  About 10 chicks showed up and sorted donations to help get them ready for the sales floor.  The Thrift Store is a major source of income for the Crisis Center.  If you would like to volunteer please give them a call at 723-5858.  If you have donations you would like to make they are open Monday - Saturday from 10-6.  They are located at 313 W. Debard.

Upcoming dates!

Orientation is September 18!  If you have signed up to volunteer or plan to volunteer, you MUST have the volunteer packet filled out and returned to the Crisis Center.  If you need a copy of the packet, let us know and we can get one to you or Insert Imageyou can drop by their office and pick one up!  Our orientation will last about half of the day and will direct us on dealing with the women and children in counseling.

On October 30 we are going to have a Chicktime float in the October Fest parade.  We are needing volunteers to help build and ride on the float. We are hoping to spread the word about Chicktime and the Crisis Center.  Also, we are going to help host a Thrift store garage sale in their parking lot on October 30.  If you would like to help with either of these projects, please let us know or sign up on the Chicktime calendar.  We are going to need LOTS of Chicks to help us out!!  SO, get your pink shirts on and pitch in!!

Check out our Calendar!!  It is getting full with lots of fun things to do and help make a difference!

Special Request!!!

Our hearts our going out to the Crisis Center Mission!  They are a wonderful organization that is a life line for many women and children in their darkest hour. The slInsert Imageow economy has really hit them hard financially and to make matters worse the number of clients they help is on the rise. They do not want to turn anyone away.  They are reaching out to friends and family asking for their help with the Samaritans Heart Campaign.  By agreeing to help all you have to do is pledge $20 a month for the next year.  It is a small amount that can make a HUGE difference. If you would rather make a one-time donation instead that is great too!  Every penny helps and no amount is too small (or too big!!!)  If you would like a pledge card, please let us know and we will mail one to you or you can mail your donation to them! After you have signed up, they will mail a monthly reminder to you...How easy is that?!

Children's Homes News:

Chicktime San Marcos is moving forward! Judge Raul A. Gonzalez and staff blessed the girls and boys at Central Texas children's home in July. The theme was your future (Jeremiah 29:11) The kids received a new view of God through the encouraging words of Judge Gonzalez. One of the kids was surprised to see a Judge care so much about their well being. We are so blessed to have the opportunity to connect with great men and women of God. One of the house parents at the home shared her thoughts with me, I think it sums up the day! "The girls enjoyed getting pampered, they had their nails painted and their hair curled, then they also had the treat of painting a denim bag, some of the girls really got messy with this before they had their nails done. While the boys enjoyed a basketball camp, they learned drills like dribbling and fancy dribbling. Even the Judge joined the boys with all of the drills. Then the boys and the Judge learned how to make different paper airplanes and then they flew them to see how far theirs would go. While all of this was going the children were able to snack on a variety of snacks, just looking and listening I wasn't sure who was having more fun the kids or the adults." ( Sally Goodnight)

Keep Chicktime San Marcos in your prayers as we continue to build our team

Chicktime San Antonio

Aug pic

On August 21st, Chicktime- San Antonio had the privilege to play Bunco with the girls at St. PJ's.  The activity was hosted by a group of ladies who over 15 years ago had friendships blossom because of the game! The morning began with a blessing over the girls and their house parents.

Human bingo was played as an icebreaker which allowed for the girls and Chicktime volunteers to mingle and laugh together. Chocolate bars with hot pink bows were given out as prizes. The girls were then split up into their Bunco teams and went to their assigned tables covered in hot pink table cloths and fuzzy pens for the girls to use. Instructions were explained to the girls and staff who participated and even some of the Chicktime volunteers. A copy of the instructions were also left on each table, but we had volunteers "posted" at each of the eight card tables for extra help and encouragement. The girls caught on fast. Cheers and screams were heard throughout the gym.  After about 45 minutes of play, the girls were treated to an assortment of snacks while prizes were handed out for the most Buncos, most games won, and least games won! A circle up name- game was played to wind us down and a prayer shared to closeour time together. Every girl and staff person were given a hot pink "goodie" bag with nail polish, lip gloss and pink dice and fuzzy pen to play Bunco on their own.

Special thanks to our August Chick leaders: Kendra Barnes, Janet Irwine, Laura Najvar, Stepanie Parker, Carolyn  Burek, Cathy Bohne, and Nancy Persyn.

Join us next month on September 18th, as we learn about healthy eating and do a little Zumba dancing with Chick leader, Kelly Vizzone.

 Blessings and gratitude,

Diane Godwin and Donnette Tyler

We believe that sacrifice and love will change the very course of the young girls lives at Big Springs Ranch.  We have been given a wonderful opportunity to plant seeds that will grow throughout their lives. As they one day mature mothering and nurturing there own children, chains of hurtful and harmful lifestyles will be broken.  If we bathe our girls in prayer and speak works of wisdom to them, our efforts will not fail, even if our eyes never see the outcome this side of heaven.

Bobbie's Sisterhood Blog
Evoke Her Beauty
Posted: August 18, 2010 from Bobbie Houston in Sydney .

Look up "evoke" in the dictionary and it says "To bring or recall to the conscious mind." Search for "evoke" in the bible and you find (in Ephesians 5, Message) the most magnificent of statements... "Christ's love makes the church whole. His words evoke her beauty. Everything He does and says is designed to bring the best out of her".
These verses also speak of The Church, in context of a beautiful bride being prepared to one day stand alongside her Saviour King. Heaven delights in this analogy and people who have felt and experienced the warmth of this reality delight also. But let's never forget that those who (sadly) position themselves as "enemies" of this same Saviour, will also position themselves as enemies of His bride. They will never delight or be enthused about her... To them she is an equal threat, no matter how kind and gracious she (continually) shows herself to be.
All I know friends, is that this magnificent Saviour King (aka Jesus)... who has done this world no harm, who came to bring life and hope, who laid his flawless life down in exchange for our flawed lives... delights in His bride. She may not (yet) be perfect, she may not (yet) have all her wedding garments adorned, she may not (yet) understand her full authority in the Oneness she shares with her 'Heavenly Groom', but SHE IS THE APPLE OF HIS EYE. This life has an eternal factor attached, and no groom who truly "cherishes" his bride allows anyone to touch her in a harmful way without consequence.
I pray that as His bride (the genuine Christ-centered Church ) continues to emerge on the earth, as she comes into full view, as her gracious "touch" is felt by broken, hurting, searching humanity... that she will also know that the One who adores her, will never allow anything to ultimately harm her.
Allow His Words to evoke (bring and recall to your conscious mind) all you are and are purposed to be... And as this Heavenly Groom so poignantly teaches, let's continue to love and pray for those who oppose, lets continue to choose the higher road, lets pray for one another (Eph 6) and lets continue to press on to fulfill His great commission of loving humanity into the saving arms of Heaven above.
Evoke... What a word! (Thanks Paul and Ephesians)
Love, Bobbie

Asking the question of Why Chicktime? Call or email Lori and lets girl talk!!!

Food for thought: Have you ever wanted to deepen your relationships with the women in your life... with your daughters, your mothers, your sister, your friends... bring them to Chicktime and watch the walls come down... that is how the Holy Spirit works... walk in service to Him... and all your heart's desire will become yours. We can't explain it... we just know it to be true! And talk about new friendships... these are the real kind based on purpose and love.

What is Chicktime National
Chicktime logo with stripe

Chicktime, Inc. is a 501 (c) (3) public charity. With the new Chicktime groups forming, it is important for all members to realize there is a 'parent' organization that each Chick belongs to as well as her local Chicktime Group! We have decided to refer to Chicktime, Inc, the umbrella for our non-profit status as Chicktime National. Chicktime Inc. is our official name... but that is oh so boring!

This is important because in addition to the individual Chicktime group events, Chicktime National will also hold quarterly events as a way to introduce the idea of Chicktime to new friends and to provide opportunities for ALL the Chicks to come together.

Our conversations at the national events always seem to boil down to a common theme... the intrigue that so many women in one room share a common vision! Chicktime National offers a mission or leadership trip each spring, a summer retreat just for fun, as well as our national conventionuld in the fall.

Chicktime Gear
To purchase Chicktime Gear contact your local Chicktime Chapter. All proceeds go towards their local charities.

Chicktime Gear is available wholesale only to Chicktime Chapters. Contact lori@mlrhodes for current wholesale pricing.

If you would like to charter a Chicktime Chapter, contact Lori as well!

What is Chicktime

Chicktime is a grass roots movement meant to support and encourage women living on the wild side, pursuing their passions with gusto. It is our belief that if each woman on the planet right now takes her place we can together accomplish the phenomenal.
