Greetings!
I want to be like Jesus.
Unfortunately, I get wrapped up in being right; wish I didn't. Like earlier this summer when Mike and I were moving Katy into her new apartment. Of course we knew better than Katy how to to go about furnishing a new place... measure the wall space before buying furniture for example. But sadly, we got caught up in being right and it turned out to be a hard day!
The next morning, God showed me a scripture during my quiet time and it stopped me in my tracks. I called Mike and shared with him how wrong we had been. He agreed. I called Katy and told her how sorry we were... and she melted.
God showed me that morning that when HE creates something... He has Jesus right there with Him making it a joyous occasion. I totally understand now that when I am creating something, God wants there to be an atmosphere of joy and celebration... that building and creating something is supposed to an occasion of joy... even during the process.
That is the way I want to lead my family, and this ministry. Invite Jesus to be with me daily, rejoicing before God always as I carry out His purposes. I'm convinced after reading Proverbs 8:30 that God and Jesus have fun together... that there is a party in heaven!!!
I want to be like Jesus!
Joyfully,
Lori Rhodes Chicktime Founder
"Then I was beside Him as a master and director of the work; and I was daily His delight rejoicing before Him always." Prov 8:30

Introducing New Chicktime Chapter
|
Carolina Sizemore Founder Chicktime Corpus Christi
 |
The women of Corpus Christi Chicktime have a heart for reaching out to the world, but not every woman is able to take a mission trip to another country...Bokenkamp brings the heart of those countries to Corpus Christi! Young teens from virtually every nation in Central and South America make the trek to America to escape deplorable living conditions. They bring nothing; some arrive barefoot, hungry and thirsty with only the clothes they have on. Bokenkamp Children's Shelter serves the needs of these unaccompanied refugee minors with access to opportunities and resources that will empower them to have a hope for a brighter future. Corpus Christi Chicktime is bringing a little piece of that hope to Bokenkamp once a month, sharing a small amount of time and gaining a lifetime of joy!
Corpus Christi Chicktime had our very first event at
Bokencamp Children's Shelter, Saturday June 26th! It was an amazing
experience for all! Please contact Carolina for more information! lovepazazdance@yahoo.com

The June event for Austin Chicktime was spent enjoying the
children at the Texas Baptist Children's Home.
We had planned outdoor activities for the morning and as we
were driving to the campus it began to rain. I promptly thanked God for sending rain, but boldly asked if
he could hold off for the next 2 hours. He answered that prayer and it stopped
raining and the sun came out. It was beautiful.
Outside we had water balloon sling shots that worked some of
the time, and when it became too slow, a water balloon fight broke out that had
everyone laughing and needless to say wet. Then came the water guns. There were enough for everyone to
have 2 and so we got wetter. Well
that wasn't enough, so we played a relay game with 2 teams. Each team had to
carry a bucket of water on their head to their teams tub and empty it. The
first team with a full tub won. Oddly enough someone had drilled holes in the
bottom of the buckets and everyone got soaked. It was as much a blast to watch as it was to play.
Some people didn't want to get wet, so indoors we made
bracelets with memory wire and beads of all different colors. The girls made
many different styles, colors and patterns. They were all beautiful.
In the gym some of the kids played with oversized beach
balls, volleyballs and soccer balls.
It was a fun day. And as we were loading up the car to leave
it started to sprinkle. God was so good to give us the 2 hours together. We
will look forward to time with the TBCH kids in September.
Please
contact chicktimeaustin@gmail.com for further details and
sign up to volunteer your time in a place that fits you!
As
Chicktime Austin looks towards the future we are so excited with all the new
and fantastic opportunities that are heading our way! We look forward to
sharing this journey with you and sharing the joy it will bring us all!

This month we took the girls to Pottery Barn. A place for them to select a piece of ceramicware to paint and make their own. Four of our girls chose mugs and one chose a bowl. We had a real relaxed and fun time with them. We talked about school, movies, politics, and really whatever topic they brought up. Our group of girls are so unique, beautiful and a joy to be around. Come join us one month to see what we are all about! Please contact us about sharing your gifts and passions with these young ladies.

Chicktime Corpus is busy planning our summer events and our Kick-off!
Please save the date for September 25th and plan to join us for a fabulous event supporting our children's home, Bokenkamp Children's Shelter! Bokenkamp Children's Shelter is an emergency shelter for approximately 60 unaccompanied refugee children from Central and South America, ranging in age from infants to teens. These children have all experienced some form of traumatic separation from their families. Bokenkamp provides short-term care that will leave a long-term impact in these children's lives by offering shelter, education and spiritual care.

Smithson Valley Chapter
The InCourage group wrapped up the school year with a fun pool party at Rachel Davis' house. They were given the gift of a summer bible study called the "A Daughter's Worth" which they have met every Wednesday since to discuss what it means to live as a daughter of the King! At the end of one Wednesday night, the group had the opportunity to pack Caregiver Kits for the Christian humanitarian organization called World Vision. These kits contain basic care essentials like gloves, petroleum jelly, cotton balls, washclothes, etc. for caregivers that volunteer their time to care for AIDS patients throughout Africa. The girls were moved by the video that demonstrates the extreme need for both the caregivers and the patients. It was both a JOYFUL and HUMBLING evening!
Chicktime InCourage is designed to bring moms and their
daughters together in fun and fellowship to strengthen our
relationships and those of our peers.

On June 23 Chicktime
Palestine gathered at the Anderson County Crisis Center to give the Thrift
Store yard some much needed TLC.
The results were stunning!
As people drove past, they looked and took notice! People that went past everyday stopped
and asked 'What is this place?' and we had the honor of telling them about the
Crisis Center! As we told them
about the Crisis Center mission they started to ask 'How can we help?'!!! When we first met with the director Mr.
Hammock, he said that his number one goal was to get the Crisis Center name out
into our community... our plan was starting to work!! Amy and I honestly feel that if the ladies of
Chicktime can show this place love and beauty on the outside, it will overflow
into the lives of the people that work, donate, volunteer, and turn there for
help! This place is amazing and it should show it! So, next time you are out and about....drive by and take a
look at the Anderson County Crisis Center!
On July 21st we
are planning to do some spring cleaning! In the offices we are going to shampoo
carpets, dust and do whatever we can to help. They are on a very limited budget and when the staff takes
time away to do thesetasks it is
taking away from their time dedicated to helping people in need. We are also hoping
to paint the doors of the thrift store (this may have to be done on a Sunday
when they are closed.)
Our Kickoff party is still
set for August 26th....we will mail out invitations soon! Orientation is on September 18th and the first
'Official' Chicktime is October 26th.
The Thrift Store can
always use volunteers. If you
would like to volunteer please contact 903-723-5858.
Also they can always use
donations....so next time you clean out a closet or spring clean, please remember
the Crisis Center!
Please take a look at our
calendar and if you know of anyone that is interested in learning more about Chicktime
Palestine, please pass along our info!
Love, Tracy Chicktime Palestine Co-Founder tracyandlily@earthlink.net
Recap of Dates: June 23rd, 9am -12 noon, scheduled to build flower beds at the Crisis Center July 21st, 9am-12 noon at the Crisis Center, activity TBA August 18th, 9am-12 noon at the Crisis Center, activity TBA August 26th from 6-8pm, Chicktime Palestine Kick-off at the home of Tracy Calhoun

Our June Chicktime RGV event was sensational! The children all were given new swimsuits, towels, and pool toys for our monthly event. We served hotdogs, chips, and cookies for lunch and returned to the pool after eating. Four hours of splashing, swimming, and water guns fights not only serve to bring the children immense fun, but our 10 volunteers had a blast as well while keeping cool. Thanks so much to Jennifer, Lori, and Ana for all their work organizing the event. Not only did more children than ever come for the pool party at the Tanglewood subdivision, but the number of volunteers doubled from May as well.
The event went so well, that we scheduled another pool party for July 24 at Tanglewood for the children of the RGV Children's Home.
The month of June proved to be a great month for both the children and our volunteers. Thank you Ana and Jaime Rodriguez for organizing Sunday at the International Art and Science museum in McAllen, TX for all 20 of the current residents of the children's home June 1.
By the second week of June, house fathers Joey and Rocky proudly announced that three brothers who have been residents of the children's home for the past eleven years recently were adopted by a gentlemen from Houston. Although it's always hard to say goodbye to the children once strong bonds are formed, the staff celebrates when the children can be permanently returned to their families and/or placed in healthy, loving homes. The angels were singing songs of praise for those boys as they traveled to their new homes.
The news gets better! Last week, a family of five siblings were also reunited with their parents. The house parents always appreciate when the support the children's home and the community provides results in children being reunited.
This week, the Children's Home welcomed three new children. We cannot wait to meet them at our next event.
Nellie Garcia has graciously taken on the role of volunteer coordinator while the Children's Home searches for a new coordinator. If you want to volunteer to work with the Children's Home outside of the Chicktime RGV events, feel free to reach out to her at 956 585 4847. The house parents appreciate any time given to the children.
Our next event will be July 24 from 10:30 - 1:30 at the Tanglewood Community Pool Volunteers are welcomed to bring their children to this pizza and pool party.
We are now accepting donations for our school supply drive for the Children's Home. We'd like to send all the children to school with enough supplies to last through fall semester. We'd like to have a "Back to School" bash for the kids August 15 where we present them with full backpacks. Natalie Basham and the IDEA Mission Class of 2013 is organizing this event. Contact her at 956 878 3176 to arrange a donation pick-up/drop-off or find out more about next month's event.
We need LEADERS for the remaining months of 2010.
PLEASE contact Natalie ASAP if you are ready to bring love and joy the children's lives! nova_nm@yahoo.com I deas you can organize for the children:
Visual arts (painting, drawing, coloring, and ceramics) Readers' Theater Field day (outdoor activities including kickball, sack races) Cooking lessons Gardening Talent Show Easter Egg painting and hunt Bird watching Scrapbooking Board/card Games or Video Games Checkers or Chess tournament or lessons Mad libs Calligraphy or handwriting lessons

Chicktime
San Antonio had their first activity at St. PJ's on June 19th and
it was everything we had prayed it would be. About 15 middle and high
school girls showed up for the "Spa" party and were pampered by
our volunteer nail technicians (AKA---chick volunteers)! The girls rotated
between pedicure and manicure stations and were also treated to shoulder
massages and snacks and drinks. We ended our time together with a
circle-up game of sharing to help us all get to know more about each other.
Jennifer Clarke, Chicktime Inc. treasurer, closed us up in prayer. What a
blessing it was to finally get our Chicktime Chapter started. We are positive that God is going to
use this ministry for his glory and we would love for you to join us on the
journey.
For
more information on next month's activity, visit the website or contact Annette
Goodson at annettegoodson@sbcglobal.net and
she can tell you more about the baking activity she is co-leading with Liz
Kal-Perry. You won't want to miss this one!
This is a
large work I've called you into, but don't be overwhelmed by it. It's best to
start small. Give a cool cup of water to someone who is thirsty, for instance.
The smallest act of giving or receiving makes you a true apprentice. You won't
lose out on a thing.

Chicktime Smalltown volunteers
had a great time with the girls of Big Springs Ranch on Saturday. One of our members Angie Arredondo led
us in Cross-Fit drills. The girls
were great sports trying all the different moves with balls and floor
ladders. Then they played games
with the volleyball and had a healthy snack.
Every month and each event
brightens the life of the children and the volunteer that gives up a Saturday
morning to love on these girls.
Each girl is so special and grateful. If you haven't jumped in there and tried the volunteer
program of your Chicktime group let me encourage you, it will be your blessing. Remember the words of
Jesus "Anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf welcomes me,
and anyone who welcomes me welcomes not only me, but also my Father who sent
me." Jesus said this to the disciples because they were acting pretty full of
themselves and had let there importance and position cloud their purpose. He was trying to remind them our
true life is in Him and He was a servant.
Thank you fellow servant Chicks!

What is Chicktime National
|
Chicktime, Inc. is a 501 (c) (3) public charity. With the new Chicktime groups forming, it is important for all members to realize there is a 'parent' organization that each Chick belongs to as well as her local Chicktime Group! We have decided to refer to Chicktime, Inc, the umbrella for our non-profit status as Chicktime National. Chicktime Inc. is our official name... but that is oh so boring!
This is important because in addition to the individual Chicktime group events, Chicktime National will also hold quarterly events as a way to introduce the idea of Chicktime to new friends and to provide opportunities for ALL the Chicks to come together.
Our conversations at the national events always seem to boil down to a common theme... the intrigue that so many women in one room share a common vision! Chicktime National offers a mission or leadership trip each spring, a summer retreat just for fun, as well as our national conventionuld in the fall.
