Greetings!
My life had changed in so many ways since I began this Chicktime journey. I often talk about the blessing, not always just the blessing others receive from our work, but the immeasurable blessings I have received through my association with this organization and these women and children.
If you will allow me a bit of indulgence, I would like to share one of those blessings with you this month. There was a time not so long ago when other people really got to me at times (and not in the good way). Of course that wasn't usually their intent, but I received their criticism through a broken filter and would let others bring me down. I didn't recognize the transformation as it was happening, but it has occurred to me lately that less and less is bothering me these days... not bad news reports, not rejection, not really anything. Honestly, it didn't even occur to me that this shift was happening until I read a devotional a few months ago that talked about the sin of bitterness and offense.
The writer talked about Nehemiah who responded to those trying to distract him from rebuilding the wall around Jerusalem with a very powerful statement. In Ne 6:1-3 he says, "I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down. Why should the work cease while I leave it and go down to you?" Wow... I humbly share with you today that I am beginning to feel the same way Nehemiah did about my purpose! I am finding myself less concerned with things that don't truly matter because I am focused on my mission, my great work for God. This wasn't something I purposely pursued, it just happened.
So, I ask you today. Is bitterness and offense something you struggle with? Do people get on your nerves or hurt you with their comments, even when they don't mean to? I wish I could say that doesn't ever happen to me anymore, but it still does from time to time (like last week when my husband commented on how beautiful a certain famous person was... poor guy, he didn't do anything wrong... I am just still a little bit broken).
I have come to believe by revelation that those who focus on a big vision aren't even aware of many of the wrongs done to them, and these 'history makers' know that being easily offended cause a 'going down' from the high place of God's purpose. I want to be one of those history makers. I want to leave the world better than I found it.
Will you join me?
Joyfully,
Lori Rhodes Chicktime Founder

We often wonder what we can do to help ourselves, those we love, those we care about, or simply people we hear about who are going through a tough time. We hear their stories and we want to do something. But what?
Pray.
It is that simple yet that profound.
We could tell you over a million stories of how prayer has changed our lives, but for some reason, when it comes to simply praying... most of us just forget its power and its value.
We challenge each of you to go to prayer first this week, and if you would like someone to pray in agreement with you over ANYTHING... PLEASE visit our prayer website and post a prayer request. You may click the link to the left (in the pink column) or simply go directly to the site.
www.prayersoverourchildren.wordpress.com/prayer-requests/
Chicktime has an intercessory prayer team led by Terry Kinsey (affectionately known as Mama Terry) of Corpus Christi, Texas. We pray diligently and daily over Chicktime, and we will pray for you individually... simply ask!

Austin has kept their hands and hearts busy this May! Come and join us
for our upcoming events this summer! Take notes of events listed
above. Contact chicktimeaustin@gmail.com for specific details! Caritas We
recently volunteered at Caritas in downtown Austin. This great
organization feeds the homeless and working poor in our area. We spent
the morning chopping, cooking and creating lunch for over 250 men,
women and children. Thanks to all that donated their time this
morning! We will be back cooking at Caritas this fall with new dates
starting in September. AT HOME with Chicktime Autin One of our
first At Home events was in May. Zee Nariman and Kelley Worden hosted
this event. We all helped to create fleece blankets and quilt squares
for The Linus Connection. This organization completes the quilt
squares we decorate and delivers the blankets for children in hospitals
throughout the Austin area. We all enjoyed creating and decorating the
squares for the quilts as well as cutting and tying the fleece
blankets. We also bagged 50lbs of rice bags for Caritas. These will be
delivered to families in need in the Austin area.
Please
contact chicktimeaustin@gmail.com for further details and
sign up to volunteer your time in a place that fits you!
As
Chicktime Austin looks towards the future we are so excited with all the new
and fantastic opportunities that are heading our way! We look forward to
sharing this journey with you and sharing the joy it will bring us all!

It is almost time to gear up for our next Chicktime! In May we had a fantastic time fishing with Kym Hart! She taught us how to bait hooks, and handle live worms! It was awesome! The girls were treated to the outdoors, and a fantastic lunch prepared by Preppers. We had the most delicious sandwiches, and we topped those off with chocolate dipped strawberries provided by the Kornegays! I know the girls enjoyed it all! They have come to expect that we will be around, and they have decided that they now have suggestions for their Chicktime adventures. Crystal asked if we could do a horseback riding Chicktime! I love that they are comfortable enough to ask. Our next Chicktime will be homemade beauty on June 12th. Our leaders for this month are Lisa Hillis and Elaura Martinez. Please check www.chicktime.com for more info or to sign up as a volunteer.

Tejeda Chapter

24 sixth grade Tejeda Middle School girls
and their moms kicked off the new "Encourage" chapter last month. They met at the Cibolo Canyon
neighborhood pool for swimming, food, and fun. BethAnn Erhart, founder, shared her
motivation and passion for creating "Encourage", and the Tejeda girls enjoyed a
hilarious( and pretty messy) skit involving whipped cream and various other
foods, performed by a couple of the high school Encourage girls. Each mother and daughter was given a
journal to share their thoughts, praises, concerns, and complaints with each
other. What a great way to build and strengthen our communication with our
daughters! Encourage -Tejeda is off to a fantastic
start and looking forward to some fun summer activities!!
Smithson Valley Chapter
The Smithson Valley group joined forces and helped provide a tasty and nourishing breakfast for the homeless men and women that worship with Church Under the Bridge. We served a scrumptious breakfast casserole and fruit to approximately 75-100 people. They CUB homeless community is always very appreciative and love to see the youth joining them under the bridge! Every time we have the opportunity to share this meal with CUB, God provides His people that have never been there! It is an amazing experience to witness and worship out in the open air with new brothers and sister in Christ! This opportunity is available every second Sunday of the month to anyone feeling the call to serve in this way. Please contact Jennifer Clarke at todjen@gvtc.com if you are interested!
Chicktime InCourage is designed to bring moms and their freshman
daughters together in fun and fellowship to strengthen our
relationships and those of our peers.

Chicktime Palestine has some exciting news! Tracy and I have toured several different facilities in our area trying to find the greatest need and best match for our Chicktime Palestine Chapter. Our friend and fearless leader, Lori Rhodes, told us, that when we found that perfect place, we would 'just know' that it was where we were suppose to be. I will admit, we were at times discouraged, but with a lot of prayers, faith, determination, and support from our families.......it turns out, she was right!
This past week we toured the Crisis Center of Anderson County where they assist victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse. Our interview with the Executive Director, Donald Hammock, was very moving and brought tears to our eyes. They have an overwhelming number of victims and we have, as you know, many wonderful women waiting to help. It seems that one of Mr. Hammock's biggest obstacle is community involvement, which to me, sounds like an easy fix. What better way, than a group of headstrong women to spread the word.
We have decided not to have our Kick-off until August 26th from 6-8pm. We need you all there with all your wonderful ideas, as this is when we plan our activities for the whole year. Lori Rhodes, founder of Chicktime and Donald Hammock, Executive director of the Crisis Center will be there to speak and answer questions.
In the mean time we will be doing some volunteer work, and just building our relationship with the Crisis Center.
We have June 23rd 9am -12 noon, scheduled to build flower beds. July 21st and August 18th, both 9am-12 noon are also scheduled and TBA of what task. There is so much to do, and we need your help! All of these dates are on the event calender already, and we need you to register online for each event that you can attend! We also need to build our Chicktime Palestine Roster, so don't just sign yourself up, we need all the chicks you can think of. You may do that online as well. www.chicktime.com. Also, check out all the merchandise on the website. We can hand deliver you anything on that site.
I can't put in words how excited we are!
Although, other interviews were some times disappointing....I see now, that it was God's way of gently guiding us to where really needed to be. It was an overwhelming feeling and when Tracy and I got in the car to leave, we screamed like silly teenage girls!!
Thank you to our local Chicktime friends whom never stopped believing that Tracy and I would find the perfect place......thanks for your prayers and patience.
Love,
Amy Chicktime Palestine Co-Founder amystauffer@embarqmail.com

Thanks so much to Elizabeth, Ana, Rocky, and Joey for your time this past Saturday morning. We spent two hours riding the tram and running through the trails of Bentsen State Park. The seven children with us Saturday loved finding new birds, lizards, butterflies, and turtles throughout the park. Their intense curiosity and high energy certainly inspired us and brought us back to a time in our lives when we lacked fear of the unknown, liked getting our hands dirty with nature, and had full faith that God was watching over us.
It's amazes and inspires me that these children who have been temporarily displaced from their homes maintain such positive outlook and faith in life. Within thirty minutes we had gain their acceptance and trust and they were ready to take our hands and walk through the park.
We were only able to scratch the surface of all there is to explore at Bentsen Rio Grande Valley State Park so we plan to return with the children in the fall to ride bikes and chase butterflies. If you love the outdoors and would like to organize a low prep event for the children, the park is a great outing for you to set up for the kids.
Schools across the RGV and Texas will close for the summer by the end of this week. The staff at the RGV Children's Home have several events planed to keep the children occupied throughout the week. For those of you who cannot join us on the weekend but want to contribute your time and talent, consider reaching out to the Children's home interim volunteer coordinator, Nellie, to volunteer to help with one of their events. Call 956 585 4847 to schedule or sign-up for one of their daily outings.

Chicktime San Marcos had an AWESOME time with the Children of Central Texas Children's Home this past weekend! The staff and the youth anticipated our arrival with great enthusiasm. We were very well received... which was nice to feel since this was our first Chicktime event! We played sports, presented a self-esteem seminar, and enjoyed arts/crafts together.
My most profound moment came when one young lady told me that God made her with 'no regrets'. That statement sealed everything that morning. We are excited to see what God is going to do through Chicktime San Marcos... through our hearts, our hands, and our feet!
Join us soon! And please contact me about sharing your gifts and passions with these children. We still have opportunities to lead in 2011!

If you like fun and exciting activities Chicktime Smalltown is the place to be. I mean, we're talking prom here! The Ed Brune Charter School at Big Springs Ranch for Children had their high school prom on May 8th. Our Chicktime Smalltown members were privileged to be a part of that. Member Linda Jordan and the stylists from her salon, Shear Perfection, went with other members to the ranch the morning of the 8th to do hair and nails for the girls. There were members in attendance to help with makeup as well. At lunchtime everyone took a break to eat lunch which was also provided by Chicktime members. Wanda Willard and Janice McWhorter gave a wonderful inspirational talk with a Christian message, reminding the girls of their inner beauty and their self worth. It was an awesome day of bonding and fun. The prom that night even had some Chicktime Smalltown members and their husbands in attendance as chaperones. It was wonderful to see the girls in the beautiful dresses and the guys in their tuxes. Our members really came together and worked wonders getting dresses donated and altered, money for tuxedo rentals, and corsages donated. I'm sure the memories made will be cherished for a lifetime. In other news, our mentoring program is moving along well. We now have nine mentors trained and ready to be matched. We will be able to add members as we go, so it is never too late to voice an interest. This program is going to be a great way to get to know a girl more personally and be an important guiding influence in her life. We have some fun summer programs lined up for the next few months. We are also excited to already be planning activities for fall and the new school year, which will be our second year of Chicktime Smalltown! Time really does fly when you are having fun like this!

What is Chicktime National
|
Chicktime, Inc. is a 501 (c) (3) public charity. With the new Chicktime groups forming, it is important for all members to realize there is a 'parent' organization that each Chick belongs to as well as her local Chicktime Group! We have decided to refer to Chicktime, Inc, the umbrella for our non-profit status as Chicktime National. Chicktime Inc. is our official name... but that is oh so boring!
This is important because in addition to the individual Chicktime group events, Chicktime National will also hold quarterly events as a way to introduce the idea of Chicktime to new friends and to provide opportunities for ALL the Chicks to come together.
Our conversations at the national events always seem to boil down to a common theme... the intrigue that so many women in one room share a common vision! Chicktime National offers a mission or leadership trip each spring, a summer retreat just for fun, as well as our national conventionuld in the fall.
