Greetings!
What is in your bag?
What has God given you... what strengths, talents, passions? How are you using those to help others... to make the world a better place?
Let me encourage you to not only ponder these questions, but put together a tangible representation of your answer. I am in the process of doing just that. I have filled a bag with tools to help others and I plan to keep it with me at all times. I have invitations to Chicktime, to my favorite bible study, and book club. I have flyers about various programs in my community that will come in handy when I meet someone who is hurting... rather than just listen, I can give them direction where to go for help. I also have a few of my favorite CD's and books in my bag... and let's not forget a few Chicktime goodies (and an order form). It seems that God just prompts me to put certain items in my bag, and then prompts me when it is time to share. There is something special about having something to 'leave behind' when I am sharing things I am passionate about!
Some would call it a bag of tricks...you could say that... but I prefer to think of it as my bag of grace.
I encourage you to toss a few things in your bag... and watch how God will use them to help the people who cross your path!
Joyfully,
Lori Rhodes Chicktime Founder
P.S. Please see the article about Life Hurts God Heals in this newsletter... I am carrying around this group's flyer in my bag and have shared it with many people over the past few weeks... it is an incredible program!
P.S.S. The next time you see me, ask what is in my bag... I can't wait to show you! :)

Chicktime Cooking for a Cause
|
In March we will be baking cupcakes for a new restaurant opening in Gruene. Every Friday will be dedicated to 'Cupcakes for CASA'. Please tell all of your friends about this new adventure in Gruene! Let's get the word out about CASA!
Cooking for a cause is available to do family meals with a bit of notice... for you or maybe even for a friend you would like to 'treat'. Our home cooked meals are a great way to 'bless' someone you love who might be recovering from an illness, too busy to cook, or just needs a little reminder of how much they are loved! And remember, 100% of our profits are donated to local children's charities.
To learn more about CASA visit their website at http://www.casacentex.org/

On January 23, 2010 the Founding Members of Chicktime RGV met 13 of the 20 children from the Rio Grande Valley Children's home for the first time. Leann Randall organized cookie decoration, story reading, picture making, and beadwork for children's ranging in ages nine months through 15 years. Yes, we were even able to get the fifteen year boys to decorate cookies and take an interest in books! The children were very active, engaged, and grateful to have so much attention and the live-in staff was appreciative our time with the children. We had a blast!
Next month, we need a Chick Leader to plan our next set of activities at the RGV children's home. Please mark your calendars and consider joining us February 27 from 9:00 until 11:00 AM. If you would like to lead, please contact Natalie Basham at your earliest convenience.
For those of you who are just being introduced to Chicktime RGV, we are a national organization with chapters around the Texas. Chicktime seeks to encourage women to develop their passions and use their gifts to make the world better for the next generation. Our particular chapter intends to provide activities for the children living at the RGV Children's home through May 2010; however, each organizer(s) has a choice of service she wants to engage the group. We need organizers for June through December.
The only requirement we have of Chicktime members is that they come to serve with a heart committed to enhancing the lives of others, specifically, people living in the Rio Grande Valley. If you want to learn more about Chicktime RGV check out our national website chicktime.com or call or email Natalie Basham directly.
Other ideas you can organize for the children:
Visual arts (painting, drawing, coloring, and ceramics) Readers' Theater Field day (outdoor activities including kickball, sack races) Cooking lessons Gardening Talent Show Easter Egg painting and hunt Bird watching Scrapbooking Board/card Games or Video Games Checkers or Chess tournament or lessons Mad libs Calligraphy or handwriting lessons

Chicktime Waco announces our affiliation with the
Methodist Children's HomeChicktime Waco Serves: We are so excited to build meaningful relationships with the orphans of Waco. When visiting the breath taking 130 acre home of almost 200 children I thought, What more do they need, how could I help? With a very comfortable endowment the home could do and buy almost anything; but the one thing I was assured could not be purchased with even the largest sum of money is Love.
Love and relationship is what Chicktime Waco is about. We do more than give money; we give time, love, honesty, respect, and so much more.
Jumping into this New Year strong we are going straight to helping, by bringing Baylor girls to the center this month. Will well be given a group of girls to mentor and take in as our little sisters!
Chicktime Waco Reaches Higher: Several of the Chicktime Waco girls attend Antioch Community Church who just hosted World Mandate. It rocked our world and set my life on fire with a new level of desire to Change the World. Check the Chicktime Calendar for opportunities to reach higher with the Waco Chicks!
By participating in Chicktime you to can make a difference, together we can do anything through the grace of GOD!
You need one of these shirts!
Please contact Katy to get your Chicktime Waco shirt today. Supplies are limited and we are selling out quickly. Shirts are $20, students get a $5 dollar discount!!! 100% of profits benefit Waco charities!!! The image above appears on our shirts!

What is Chicktime National
|
Chicktime, Inc. is a 501 (c) (3) public charity. With the new Chicktime groups forming, it is important for all members to realize there is a 'parent' organization that each Chick belongs to as well as her local Chicktime Group! We have decided to refer to Chicktime, Inc, the umbrella for our non-profit status as Chicktime National. Chicktime Inc. is our official name... but that is oh so boring!
This is important because in addition to the individual Chicktime group events, Chicktime National will also hold quarterly events as a way to introduce the idea of Chicktime to new friends and to provide opportunities for ALL the Chicks to come together.
Our conversations at the national events always seem to boil down to a common theme... the intrigue that so many women in one room share a common vision! Chicktime National offers a mission or leadership trip each spring, a summer retreat just for fun, as well as our national conventionuld in the fall.
|
With the enthusiasm of many new women interested in starting new Chicktime groups we thou ght it might be helpful to share with you how a new start up works!
First, contact Lori Rhodes lori@mlrhodes.com to share your vision.
Once you decide to follow your heart and jump in, Chicktime is there to support you.
We offer free bookeeping (chicktime is a 501 (c) (3) public charity), free webpage on www.chicktime.com, free use of the fabulous Chicktime Calendar with unlimited postings and online registration for your events, wholesale pricing on all Chicktime merchandise to help with your fundraising, free publishing of your latest news in the Chicktime National Newsletter, invitations to all Chicktime National events, and as much hand holding as you need to get up and going!
Visit chicktime.com for a more complete listing of our start-up resources!
Asking the question of Why Chicktime? Call or email Lori and lets girl talk!!!
Food for thought: Have you ever wanted to deepen your relationships with the women in your life... with your daughters, your mothers, your sister, your friends... bring them to Chicktime and watch the walls come down... that is how the Holy Spirit works... walk in service to Him... and all your heart's desire will become yours. We can't explain it... we just know it to be true!

Chicktime is a grass roots movement meant to support and encourage women living on the wild side, pursuing their passions with gusto. It is our belief that if each woman on the planet right now takes her place we can together accomplish the phenomenal.
