A Prayer for Ushers and Greeters
God, I stand at the door to welcome those You bring this way. I come prepared to serve you, knowing I see Jesus in the faces of those I greet. Prepare me this hour to:
Greet the Stranger with grace and warmth, for You know the pain of rejection.
Receive the Single person, for you know the trials of a solitary life.
Encourage the Church family, for You know the refreshment that fellowship brings.
Embrace the Children, for You loved them in all their ways.
Trust the Spirit's prompting, for You let the Spirit lead you.
Grant me Your spirit of hospitality, for those I serve may be Angels in disguise.
This prayer comes from the Hawaiian Islands Ministries and I hope it will inspire you to give a few minutes of your time to be one of our ushers or greeters over the coming months. Please speak with Carol Obin or call the church office; we will be happy to help you find a time slot that works with your schedule. Thank you for your participation!

Church of the Good Shepherd
|
|
As we journey through the Lenten season, we are fortunate to have so many options for worship and participation this year. Fr Noble has added a 7AM service for Wednesdays during Lent (in addition to the normal 11AM service). Many are also enjoying the Lenten Bible discussion in the parish hall after the 9AM Sunday services. We have not had this opportunity for years! We look forward to a full Holy Week. See the website for a complete list of services.
Work is really progressing in the rectory. We are looking for volunteers this week to prime the walls. The next few weeks will see the most work done. Please see Sam Kilroy for full details. Check out the poster boards at the church, detailing the scope of the work and our fund raising goals.
Recently, a long time member passed away. We discovered that she had named the church as beneficiary of a life insurance policy. This will provide the church with a very generous donation. As we prepare for this year's stewardship campaign, please consider this option as a relatively low cost way of increasing your giving to the church.
Thank you for your support

We have just passed the middle of Lent, and one cannot help but raise the question, ' Has anything changed, for humankind, our country, our city, our community?' I believe that every church in every society has been trying to conscientize their members to transform or be transformed through Lenten disciplines in order to 'Turn away from your sins and believe the Good News'. Despite all the opposition to the church, it is still made up of God's people. It is a community for worshipping God, supporting fellow-believers, learning who God is, and living the Christian faith. God obviously has confidence in his church, but does it practice the Holiness it deserves? Holiness is much more than the absence of sin; it is the presence and practice of righteousness, purity, and godliness.

KIDS FEST 2012
|
Thanks to everyone that made our Kids Fest another great success! We had over 100 kids and parents attend this free event. The volunteers were busy all day with games, crafts, face-painting and the Kids Café. We were fortunate to have students from DHS in addition to "our" kids helping out.
Thanks to Dedham Shines for referring students to us!
The Dedham Food Pantry donations were bountiful and greatly appreciated. Special Thanks to Janet Ford for dropping off the multitude of bags to the pantry!
This year we have been most fortunate to team up with the Oakdale Square Alliance. Chris Ryan coordinated donations from neighboring businesses. Thanks to Oakdale Pizza and Tedeschi's for the pizza, drinks and snacks for all the volunteers. We would also like to thank the West Roxbury YMCA for the use of their copier to make the 3,000 flyers that were distributed through the Dedham Public Schools. View our Kids Fest photo gallery on facebook. Submitted by Patty Roberts |

This month's joke...
Why did the mushroom go to the party?
Because he was a fun-guy!
The youth of the Good Shepherd has an announcement to make: from now on, we will be holding our own services. With assistance from Father Noble, the youth have come to the decision that a service will be held once a month on Sunday afternoon, just for kids! All children are welcome to join us for movie nights, bowling trips, mini golfing, and much more. These services are run by kids, for kids. Don't miss out on this great way to be involved in our church! Please ask Libby Masalsky or Father Noble if you have any questions.

Clothing Donations Needed
Liz Wadsworth is looking for women's and girls' clothing, and men's shirts for members of the Haitian community who work at the nursing home where she volunteers. These can be all season clothing as some of it will help those who are living here, and some will be sent to Haiti to help relatives and friends who are still struggling. (no shoes) Any donations will be gratefully received.
