Introducing WR-10 Security Wiegand Repeater
We are proud to present our latest WR-10 Security Wiegand Repeater for enhancing the system security of conventional Wiegand interface.
WR-10 is a miniature (50x25mm only) Wiegand interface repeater with AES128 and multiple security encryption functions built-in. It will securely relay the Wiegand output from AccuFACE via RS-485 bus to the access controller located in secured area. Upon successful authentication in AccuFACE, the user ID is encrypted and transmitted to WR-10 via RS-485 interface. WR-10 will decrypt the user ID and repeat it to its Wiegand output interface.
Why You Need A WR-10?
Card reader or biometric reader is typically installed at the unsecured side of a door. They are connected to the access controller (installed at the secured side of a door) via Wiegand or similar interfaces. However, such connection between a card/biometric reader and access controller is not encrypted and is open to skimming and manipulation.
For AccuFACE facial recognition system user, this security risk could be eliminated with a WR-10 connected on AccuFACE. WR-10 can securely relay encrypted data output from AccuFACE to the access controller. It ensures data transmission is secure and safe from being compromised.

Key Features
- Relay Wiegand messages from AccuFACE in Wiegand 26, 34, or a customized format of up to 64 bits
- Communication: RS-485 interface
- Encryption: Advanced Encryption Standard AES128 with CRC32
- Protocol: Proprietary session-based communication
- Recorded packets on RS-485 cannot trigger WR-10
- Effectively prevents Man-in-the-middle (MITM) attack
- Unique ID (UID) embedded on each WR-10, to further enhance security
- Single 12VDC power

Real Life Application: Laboratories
Since the product launch in 2009, AccuFACEŽ facial recognition system has been deployed in over 22 countries. Installation locations include airports, banks, business enterprises, factories, government agencies, retail stores and schools.
AccuFACE is being used at high school, university and research institution to authenticate user's identity and grant access of authorized user to secure area.
Lately, AccuFACE is used to in multiple university laboratories to secure the assets and prevent unauthorized person from entering the lab. It can also limit user from accessing the lab based on an access schedule defined by the lab supervisor. Prior to installing AccuFACE, students and teaching assistants have to use a card reader system. Since the card is exchangeable, the card reader system cannot effectively identify the user and limit lab access to authorized person only. Customer appreciates the user of facial recognition because it automates the student identity checking process, eliminates misuse of card and makes access control easy to do. |
