Greetings!

Signs of spring are everywhere here in the United States and one can't help being reminded that all growing things respond to the proper attention. The same has been true of Chronic Illness Recovery, and we're thankful to all volunteers, supporters, and everyone else who has participated in this unique endeavor.

Word about CIR is spreading and we're steadily enrolling patients in our counseling program and registering physicians at our website. Our interactive Forum is proving to be a very effective vehicle for our Nurses, patients and their doctors to work together to manage the recovery process.

CIR is reaching out to more medical practitioners to fulfill our mission, so please encourage the medical professionals you know to request CIR's professional newsletter. Physicians, nurse practitioners and physicians' assistants need only send an email request for the professional newsletter to:info@chronicillnessrecovery.org.

Best regards,

About Inflammation Therapy

Supplements are part of many alternative treatments for chronic illness, and many chronically ill patients are accustomed to taking a variety of supplements. Some have an obvious palliative effect; others are needed to replace essential substances, while others are merely touted to improve health.

Many patients are concerned about maintaining adequate nutrition to prevent bone loss. We recommend that our patients are tested for calcium and magnesium levels to determine if they might be deficient. We encourage everyone to assess their calcium intake from foods and if it's lacking, to supplement with an appropriate amount of calcium and magnesium. See Calcium and Osteoporosis.

 B-12

There's no way to tell for certain if an unrelenting symptom such as fatigue or exhaustion is, or is not, related to herxing. Some have found that sublingual Vitamin B-12 (use the hydroxo or methyl form; not the cyano) can help with energy. The recommended dose is 1000-2000 mcg a day.

We believe that good nutrition is essential for efficient metabolism and immune system function. Patients in our counseling program are permitted to take nutritional supplements or use juicing if their diet is lacking or they have gastrointestinal problems.

We have no concrete evidence that supplementing witthree_applesh most vitamins and/or minerals helps or hinders progress on Inflammation Therapy, so our philosophy on the use of supplements is less rigid than the MP doctrine. Our belief is that patients need to maintain an acceptable quality of life during the long recovery process and sometimes that means using some supplements. We encourage our patients to tell us what they're doing (we don't scold them for supplementing) so we can advise them, assess their progress and learn from them.

About Chronic Illness Recovery

Chronic Illness Recovery (CIR) was formed as a nonprofit organization registered in Texas and is supported mainly by gifts from our global friends.

In order to maintain our high quality of professional help, patients of physicians who have multiple patients enrolled are asked to pay a nominal fee for the counseling program.  Our policy limits paying patients to 50% of our caseload, to ensure that we keep reaching new medical practitioners.

nurses

Doctors never pay any fees for our website and counseling services.

Some people assume they can't afford CIR's counseling service but there's no initial cost if your medical practitioner is new to Chronic Illness Recovery. Fees are waived the first year for the first enrolled patient of each physician.

A discounted/sliding fee rate, based on ability to pay, is available to all other patients. For more information or to apply for a discounted fee, send an email to donation@chronicillnessrecovery.org.

Please don't assume you can't afford our counseling program. Send for a discounted fee application; our service may be more affordable than you think (discounts range from 20-80%). For a list of our fees, please see Fees.
