Quotable Quotes
"Having the support of medically trained people who have gone before us on this site is to me very comforting." ~ Bill "Flyboy"
"I have been on inflammation therapy for 18 months now for chronic idiopathic uveitis, Hashimoto's thyroiditis and arthralgia. I am pleased to say that my labs are all now normal (with the exception of one thyroid value) and I have seen huge improvements in my conditions." ~ Musicgyrl
"It is so comforting to feel that you have our backs and that you are advocates for us, the people, rather than just being loyal to a particular brand of thinking. Seems like so many physicians, institutions, branches of medicine, etc. adhere to a particular line of thought, and if you don't fit into it, you're 'just out of luck.' Which left so many of us 'just out of luck.' Thank you for caring." ~ Lana Oney

Greetings!
Chronic Illness Recovery's mission is to promote and support recovery from chronic illness through physician services, patient counseling, informational materials, seminars, research and participation in public health policy design. We will soon begin the research part of our mission with a clinical study to determine the effectiveness of inflammation therapy (sometimes called the Marshall Protocol, the Stillpoint Protocol). Patients enrolled in CIR's counseling program will be invited to take part in a long-term survey to assess their recovery. Volunteers who have an autoimmune or inflammatory disease diagnosis or who are chronically ill, but who are not being treated with inflammation therapy, are needed to be in the control group of this study. If you meet these criteria and would like to participate in this project, please contact us by email. We're often asked for statistics about treatment effi cacy, so we're very excited about this first-ever effort to collect ongoing, subjective and objective data about inflammation therapy. Best regards,

Physician Seminar Saturday, February 19, 2011 | CIR is hosting a seminar for physicians and other medical practitioners on Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011. Please print out the seminar brochure available on the website page 2011 Physicians' Seminar and take it to your doctor. S/he may not be on our mailing list and we want all interested persons to know about this important first-time event. |
Patient Workshop Sunday, February 20, 2011 | The initial response to our Patient Workshop, to be held Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011 at the Hilton Dallas- Fort Worth Lakes Executive Conference Center, has been gratifying. We expect to see a lot of local people attending, but we are delighted that registrations are already coming in from far away (e.g., Vermont, Missouri, Mexico, Oklahoma, Michigan). Presenters from Australia and Ireland will lend an international flavor to our gathering.
You will find details, including the program, location, registration, hotel reservations, cost, how to pay, workshop brochures, etc., on the CIRCLE website page titled 2011 Patient Workshop. You may also request more information by sending us an email. If you know of anyone interested in recovery from chronic illness who is not aware of CIR, please let them know about our services and this workshop.

About Inflammation Therapy |
Treatment EffectivenessThousands of patients with a wide variety of symptoms and diseases have provided remarkable accounts of symptom resolution and improved quality of life with inflammation therapy. The response rate appears very high, but not all patients who have tried inflammation therapy (IT) have improved. Data from clinical trials is lacking and current medical diagnostic methods cannot provide an objective insight into IT effectiveness. Efficacy, therefore, is defined by each patient's treatment goals and satisfaction with treatment results. The potential for IT to reverse chronic illness and recover health seems to be influenced by: - prior therapies (e.g., immunosuppressive or immunomodulatory, hormonal, high-dose antibiotics or heavy supplement use)
- patient age
- length of illness
 - severity of symptoms
- extent of tissues affected
- location of inflammation
- type of tissue damage
- cognitive and psychiatric factors which may affect compliance
- competent, professional counseling
- a good support system
- unknown factors
Inflammation therapy may fail if:- the patient cannot, for any reason, comply with all essential treatment aspects
- Herxheimer reactions are not, or cannot be, managed to maintain tolerable symptoms and acceptable lab work
- systemic inflammation and/or tissue damage is too severe or extensive
- extensive inflammation is located in vital tissues
Patients who have not responded to IT in a typical fashion may still succeed if they receive expert professional guidance. The CIR Health Team monitors patients closely and works with their physicians to provide tailored treatment and, thus, increase the chance of recovery from chronic illness. See Expectations and Efficacy of Inflammation Therapy.

Therapy Tip
| In the long term, it may be possible to overcorrect for elevated 1,25-D. A dramatic increase in muscle, bone and/or joint pain, after having an unmeasurable amount of 25-D and a low level of 1,25-D (less than 20pg/ml) for some time, indicates the need to increase 25-D to maintain a normal level of 1,25-D. A 25-D level of 6-15ng/ml may be the adequate level to maintain 1,25-D at a healthy 27 to 33pg/ml. A very high PTH level may also point to overcorrection.

| This report published in The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism concluded that lower 25(OH)D levels were not associated with an increased risk of all-cause or cause-specific mortality in older men. Serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D, parathyroid hormone, and mortality in older men.
Much of what medical researchers conclude in their studies is mis- leading, exaggerated, or flat-out wrong. So why are doctors - to a striking extent - still drawing upon misinformation in their everyday practice? Dr. John Ioannidis has spent his career challenging his peers by exposing their bad science. About Chronic Illness Recovery | Fees
The CIR professional counseling program is a real bargain. There is no charge (for the first year) if your doctor is new to CIR. Other patients pay a reduced fee, based on their ability to pay, and the remainder pay a reasonable fee for the value of services provided. These resources help meet some of the expenses involved on our high-quality website. Your doctor will not be charged, because our mission is to inform physicians about inflammation therapy.
Currently, we fully donate counseling services to 62% of our patients because their fees are waived. Don't assume that you can't afford CIR counseling - contact us and you might be surprised. See Getting Started.
