Therapy Tip
|

|
It's important to drink enough to maintain good hydration, but consuming too much water can be detrimental for some patients. An adequate fluid intake is usually 1.2 liters (2.5 pints) of any type liquids per 24 hours.

CIR Library
|

| Every patient enrolled in CIR's nurse counseling service has access to our extensive library about inflammation therapy.
We haveve recently made over 35 articles on inflammation therapy available for public viewing.
We also have an extensive section of sarcoidosis information available to the public.
Anyone wishing to access our patient library without enrolling in our nurse counseling service should email us. We will require your physician's contact information. A donation of $25 annually is suggested.

Getting to Know You
|
Meet Meg Mangin
Meg Mangin serves as Executive Director of CIR and as a Registered Nurse Counselor. When not involved in these volunteer activities she enjoys walking, novels, movies, travel and being "Grammy."
Asked what motivates her involvement in CIR, Meg responded, "Belinda and I saw a huge void in the effort to promote inflammation therapy and decided to help patients by helping their physicians. I've always enjoyed working closely with doctors during my nursing career and wanted to share the unique skills I acquired during the process of developing this treatment. I've regained my own health with inflammation therapy (IT) and it's very gratifying to help other patients do the same."

About Inflammation Therapy
|
Cost of Inflammation Therapy
Regaining your health with inflammation therapy (IT) is priceless, but some people with limited financial resources wonder if they can afford it. Many patients found that they have spent far less on IT than their previous healthcare costs because they don't buy supplements, undergo excessive testing or take IV medication.
Inflammation therapy expenses involve clinic visits, lab tests, medications and sunglasses. Some of these costs are covered by insurance.
Clinic visit costs are dependent on the amount the clinic charges and how often your doctor wishes to see you. You may be able to minimize clinic visits, especially if you can take advantage of the CIR counseling program.
The D-metabolites tests are covered by insurance without question when using the correct codes. You can forgo the 1,25-D test (which is the more expensive of the two) if your doctor doesn't require it. You'll need to test 25-D and then will need to measure it regularly. Other routine lab tests or chest x-rays may be needed as determined by your doctor to monitor your progress and should be covered by insurance.
Benicar is the backbone of IT and is continued throughout the treatment which often lasts several years. Insurance may cover only some of the required dosage but low cost generic Benicar may be purchased from online pharmacies.
The antibiotics used are inexpensive especially since they're used at very low doses and they're usually covered by insurance.
Appropriate sunglasses are essential. A basic purchase would be two pairs of NoIR Sunglasses (10% and 2%) which retail for around $40 each.

Changes to CIR's Forum

Upgrades in Security
Within the past few weeks, we have changed the host server for CIR's website. This change should not have been obvious, but the new server allows us greater flexibility and capacity.
To provide increased security, we have added secure encryption (SSL), the industry standard for securing websites, to our forum pages. In the future, all forum messages on CIR's will be protected with secure encryption, in addition to the existing password protection. We hope you like these changes.

About Chronic Illness Recovery
|
Because
our mission as a non-profit organization is to inform physicians about inflammation therapy, all CIR
resources are available to physicians free of charge.
Fees are waived for those patients enrolling in our counseling program who are also the first patient their doctor
authorizes for our counseling.
All other patients are offered a discounted fee
schedule that is based upon ability to pay. Patients must qualify for a fee reduction.
As
a non-profit organization, we provide professional services at a
significantly charitable rate. Our full monthly fee for nurse
counseling is $75 per patient, which is an effective market-value
discount of 42 percent.
CIR
policy mandates that at least 50% of
our caseload will be patients whose fees have been waived. While we
would like to waive all fees, they are necessary to allow us to pay the costs of maintaining a high-quality, professional service. |
