September 2011

Oktoberfest Opens in Lantana Friday, October 7th 2010

O'zapft is!" ("It's tapped!")

In the spirit of the Munich Oktoberfest, the American German Club of the Palm Beaches' Oktoberfest is the largest celebration of German Culture in South Florida and one of the largest Oktoberfests on the nation's east coast.  With more than 25,000 expected visitors over the two weekends, the American German Club of the Palm Beaches brings the tastes of Bavaria to South Florida.

The Club's Oktoberfest features a traditional yet modern Bavarian Oktoberfest atmosphere, authentic German meals, beer and brat booths, a Biergarten, family-friendly entertainment for the kids with arts & crafts, carnival and games, vendor displays, souvenirs, and continuous live entertainment provided by two Original Oktoberfest Bands direct from Germany, with a whole lot more planned just for our guests. Along with bands, several international dance groups will perform ethnic entertainment from around the world.

Visit the big Pavilion or our Bavarian Festhaus - day and night you'll see all ages out on the dance floor doing the "chicken dance" and the "Fliegerlied" to the music of the 11- piece Band "Heldensteiner" direct from the Munich Oktoberfest! No matter the age, our guests stroll through event site and visit our various commercial exhibitors and arts & crafts vendors. Guests who want to enjoy the atmosphere of the Bavarian style Clubhouse can dance to the music of the second German Band "Bayerisch Bluat". While wearing Lederhosen and other German attire is not required, it certainly does make the celebration more interesting.

Authentic German food such as Pork Schnitzel, Sauerbraten, Roast loin of pork, Rotisserie Chicken, Leberkäse (Veal Loaf), Bratwurst, Bauernwurst, Foot Long Frankfurters, Schnitzel Sandwich or Platter, Sauerkraut, Potato Pancakes with Apple Sauce or Sour Crème are available and much more. And don't forget to save room for the German desserts including several types of cakes like Apple Strudel and Black Forest Cake.

Imported and domestic Beers, soft drinks and non-alcoholic beer will be served along with imported and domestic wine and more. Our Schnapps Booth serves over 30 different types of Liquors: Jagermeister, Goldwasser, Underberg, Kleiner Feigling - just to mention a few.

Admission is $7, Free for Active Duty Soldiers and Veterans, and for Children under 12 with an Adult. Several Print Publications and the Club's website publish a $2-OFF Coupon. There is also plenty of FREE PARKING. Preferred Parking is $10.- With a $20 Wrist Band, Kids enjoy Unlimited Carnival Rides.
