On most days, as a part of my time with God, I read the corresponding chapter of Proverbs. This past Monday, March 12, I read Proverbs 12. One of the verses really spoke to me, since we are making preparations around Seabreeze for Easter. It was Proverbs 12:25:
"An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a kind word cheers him up."
I don't know about you, but I come across a lot of people with an anxious heart. They are anxious about many things - their jobs, their finances, their health, their parents, their kids, their spouse, and their relationships. The list goes on and on.
This verse says that "an anxious heart weighs a man down." All of these issues are creating a significant amount of fear and heaviness. In many situations, they have lost hope and do not know where to turn. Those of us at Seabreeze are not immune to this heaviness either. But through the teachings and music on Sundays or our relationships with others at Seabreeze or our time in a Growth Group, "a kind word" cheers us up. It has lifted much of that heaviness.
I would encourage you to look for someone who is being weighed down by their life circumstances and invite them to Seabreeze this Easter. I know they will hear words that will bring cheer, joy, and hope to their lives. Your invitation, and maybe your own personal story, will communicate that you care about them. You know a place and, most of all a person, Jesus Christ, who can make a difference in their life.
You will not need to look far for a person with an anxious heart needing a kind word to cheer them up, so be ready to speak that word.
Blessings this week,
