What's Cookin'

Safe Harbor will be represented at this year's Chili Cook-off on Sunday, October 9! Tariya Edwards, Food Services Director will be cooking up her famous chili and serving to the thousands of people who will be at the festival.
Let the best chili win! Be sure to come out and vote for Safe Harbor! Tariya is working hard to get that first place award this year. We were so proud that her chili last year won Safe Harbor second place! |

After almost six years as Safe Harbor's Volunteer Coordinator, I have decided to resign from my position. I have been proud to represent Safe Harbor.
Producing the Shelter Snippets in order to keep you informed of happenings in the shelter has been one of the most enjoyable and rewarding parts of my responsibilies (thank you to everyone that sent notes saying you liked them!)
I wish you all the best and thank you for the support you have shown me and Safe Harbor.

From the Executive Director's Desk
by Glenn Fricke
Please extend your heartfelt thanks to Patty Sobecki, Volunteer Coordinator for Safe Harbor. Ms. Sobecki has been part of the shelter's team for close to 6 years. In her role, she sought volunteers to assist with supporting the many needs of the shelter for our staff and our men and women that live at Safe Harbor.
Her efforts have produced many donations for Safe Harbor - food, clothing, games, and equipment just to name a few items. Ms. Sobecki was a significant contributor to the success of our new home with many donations, as well as having The Home Depot Foundation give $25,000 for equipment, cabinets and shelves. Through her efforts, the men and women were provided new beds, linens, bedding, storage closets and hand dryers.
Ms. Sobecki has helped us sustain some of the basics (and some of the luxuries) that we pride ourselves in offering our residents. Her commitment to the mission of Safe Harbor and the dignity she shows to every man and woman that comes through our doors is quite heart warming. Thank you, Patty, for your years of service to our community. We at Safe Harbor wish you great success in your new endeavors. |
