Shelter Needs

It's official - our male residents prefer boxers over briefs!

Please read below all items we are in need of this month:

1.  Undershirts - XL and 2XL

2.  Boxers - Large, XL, 2XL

3.  Boxer Briefs - Large, XL, 2XL

4.  Ankle socks

Staff & Volunteer Nametags

Many volunteers have suggested that we bring back nametags so staff and volunteers can easily be recognized when working in the shelter.

Nametags have been printed and are in the main and second floor security offices.

Please remember to wear one when volunteering and leave at the shelter for the next volunteer who comes to the shelter.

Very Important Information for all Volunteers

This notification is for all volunteers that may bring their children into the shelter to help volunteer:

Safe Harbor houses and supports people that have drug, alcohol, criminal backgrounds and/or may be registered as an offender and is listed on the Megan's Law Registry.

As a reminder, all volunteers are encouraged to use the staff bathroom (located past the lockers through the men's dorm).  Please ask the staff person on duty for a key.  All children are to be supervised at all times and must be escorted to the bathroom by a parent.

Thank you for your cooperation in keeping all our volunteers safe.

Dinner meals are always needed and open time slots are available by calling Kitchen Services Director, Tariya Edwards at 610-696-9016.

As the summer months approach, we always need volunteers who can fill in during lunchtime to serve the meal and clean up the kitchen/dining area.

Thank you for your consideration!

Shout out goes to...

Shelter Volunteers: Ryan Pham, David Rittenhouse, Jackie Nagorny, Gerry Young, Ginger Clinton, Sherry Volunteer RoundtableGold, Marilynne Rosen, and Bob Roche who participated in a Volunteer Roundtable discussion on March 25.  The discussion was led by graduate student Sarah Sobecki to learn about a nonprofit organization's volunteer program.  Sarah will be compiling a report on our strengths and weaknesses and will share the information with the leadership of Safe Harbor.  Sarah as well as the staff of Safe Harbor were so grateful for the time the volunteers took out of their busy schedules to participate.

Purple wildflowersSue Shanko who answered our plea for new board games and playing cards and donated a nice selection for our residents!

living in Russia for three months with our

residents for "Trip Around the World" activity!

Sam Sholes arranged a neighborhood collection of toilet paper, cleaning supplies, dish detergent, cleaning rags and magic erasers to keep our shelter shining!

Girl Scout Troop 4222 collected (actually raided their father's t-shirt drawer) and cut up old t-shirts for cleaning rags that Safe Harbor can use to keep our shelter shining as well!
