Change in Shelter Volunteer Slots

After a review of our volunteer time slots at the shelter (6:00-7:30 a.m., 3:30-6:00 p.m, and 6:00-9:00 p.m.) the evening/overnight staff has decided that volunteers are needed mostly at our 6:00-7:30 a.m. or 6:00-9:00 p.m. shift.

Therefore, after October 1, we will no longer offer the 3:30-6:00 p.m. shift in the women's dorm.

If you have been one of our dedicated volunteers during this time slot and would still like to volunteer during the day, we are in need of servers for lunch (Monday through Friday 10:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.) or dinner servers for the women's dorm (4:30-5:30 p.m.).  Please contact Tariya at 610-696-9016 if you can help out.

If you are flexible with your time, please consider volunteering for the early morning shift or the evening shift. There are many openings to choose from!

Thank you for your understanding and commitment to Safe Harbor.
!
Greetings!
We hope you all had a wonderful (albeit hot!) and safe summer! We are so grateful for the volunteers who were able to squeeze in time at the shelter between vacations.

We hope that if you have taken off during the summer months, you are ready and willing to come back to Safe Harbor!  Believe us when we say "we missed you terribly!".

VolunteerSpot, our new on-line volunteer scheduling program is working well for our volunteers.  If you have had any difficulty with the program, just check if your internet explorer has been upgraded to 7.  Usually, that's all it takes to get into the program.  As always, if you don't wish to use this program, you can call Patty at 610-692-6550 and she will be happy to schedule you!  Patty can also forward you the sign in link if you haven't kept it.

As the holidays approach (yes, we actually start planning for them now!), we are always so grateful for the many volunteers who wish to serve Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner.  Generally, we receive over 100 phone calls offering their time on these two days.  Fortunately, over the past several years, we have dedicated volunteers who have prepared and served dinner on these days.

If you have friends or family members who would like to provide or serve a meal around the holidays, please consider a different day.  Call Tariya at 610-696-9016 to set up a day and thank you in advance for your thoughtfulness.

Chili Cook-off time!

Safe Harbor will be represented at this year's Chili Cook-off on Sunday, October 17!  Tariya Edwards, Food Services Director will be cooking up her famous chili and serving to the hundreds of people who will be at the festival.

We need volunteers to help serve the chili, walk back and forth to the shelter with fresh pots of chili and hand out brick flyers to the attendees.

If you can help a part of the day, please e-mail
Patty.  Patty will schedule you a time slot we need you for.

Let the best chili win!  Be sure to come out and vote for Safe Harbor!
