Help Brighten the Holidays in Downtown Rochester Sponsorships Available for The Big, Bright Light Show

ROCHESTER, Mich. -Oct. 20, 2011 -Your business can help brighten the holidays in downtown Rochester by becoming a sponsor of The Big, Bright Light Show!

This signature event in downtown Rochester is unlike any other in the Midwest.  The display features 1.5 million points of glimmering holiday lights covering the buildings of downtown Rochester, which will be lit nightly, Nov. 28 through Jan. 1, 2012, from 6:00 pm to midnight.

"The Big, Bright Light Show is holiday magic personified; it is something you have to see to believe," stated Kristi Trevarrow, Executive Director of the Rochester Downtown Development Authority (DDA).  "This holiday tradition is one of a kind and sponsorships are a great way to be a part of the excitement even if your business isn't located downtown."

Sponsorships are currently available at various levels starting at $1,000 and the DDA staff will work with each business to develop a sponsorship based on individual needs.  Depending on the level of sponsorship, packages could include a combination of benefits such as website links, tickets to the sneak preview event and logo inclusion in television advertising.

The Big, Bright Light Show will debut on Monday, Nov. 28 at 7:00 pm during the 39th Annual Lagniappe celebration and will be illuminated every night from 6:00 pm to midnight through Jan. 1, 2012.

For more information, contact the Rochester DDA at 248/656-0060 or visit us online at www.DowntownRochesterMI.com/Big-Bright-Light-Show.

Step Up Before It's Too Late!

Advertise in the Winter Issue of the Greater Rochester Area Lifestyle

Dear Chamber Members,

When the first issue of the Greater Rochester Area Lifestyle hit the street this past summer it immediately became a game changer for the Rochester community. Never before has Rochester had such an in-depth community resource guide with content specifically developed to maximize information and sustain a long shelf life. It is a great resource for new and long-term residents and a helpful tool for business development and acclimation.

The quality of Lifestyle's content is matched by its deep reach penetration in the Rochester area. Lifestyle is direct mailed to households and businesses in Rochester, Rochester Hills and Oakland Township. It is also placed in strategic locations throughout the area for residents to access. Lifestyle is online on its own website (www.gralifestyle.com) and a number of other public access websites. Lastly, Lifestyle delivers a social media platform (www.facebook.com/gradailyplug) that provides advertisers a means of promoting their businesses each and every day.

Simply put, Lifestyle is both a great opportunity and value for Chamber members to consider for their advertising programs. One of a kind content, long shelf life, diversified distribution (direct mail print, interactive internet and social media platform) and Chamber endorsed - It's the complete package. However, the deadline for the winter issue is fast approaching and Lifestyle needs your participation. New, cost effective rates have been introduced to maximize value. Please contact Keaton Publications today to reserve your space in this upcoming issue. Lifestyle is a unique community resource guide and strategic asset for promoting the Chamber and its membership.

 A Christmas Story

LAGNIAPPE IN DOWNTOWN ROCHESTER - A LITTLE SOMETHING EXTRA ON NOV. 28

ROCHESTER, Mich. - Nov. 8, 2011 - Join the merchants of downtown Rochester on Monday, Nov. 28 from 6:00 - 9:00 pm when they offer their customers Lagniappe (Creole for "a little something extra") in appreciation for their support throughout the year.

The Rochester Downtown Development Authority (DDA) also will offer some Lagniappe with the debut of The Big, Bright Light Show.  The program will begin at 6:45 pm on E. Fourth Street with help from the Mayor, Channel 7's Dave LewAllen and a special appearance by the man in red, Santa Claus himself, sponsored by Studio One Salon.  The lights will officially light-up downtown Rochester at 7:00 pm.  Make sure to bring your cameras because kids will then have the opportunity to share their Christmas lists with Santa from 7:15 - 9:00 pm.

As part of Lagniappe, the DDA is partnering with Rochester Area Neighborhood House on "Kicks for a Cause," to help the kids in our community with a basic need many take for granted - shoes and socks.  Please bring new shoes or socks to the corner of E. Fourth & Main from 5 - 9 pm.  Help us "kick" off the season by making the holidays merry & bright for the kids in our community.  All types of shoes and socks are needed - athletic, casual and dress.

In addition, free horse-drawn carriage rides will be available at E. Third and Walnut Street.  The rides will run from 6:00 - 9:00 pm.

There will be a number of free holiday music performances to help visitors get into the holiday spirit; the Meadow Brook Carolers, Heart of the Hills Barbershop Chorus and more!

Following Lagniappe, The Big, Bright Light Show will run nightly from 6:00 pm - midnight through Jan. 1, 2012.  Also, don't forget the Kris Kringle Market, an open-air holiday market, Dec. 2 - 3.

For more information on all Rochester DDA events, please call 248/656.0060 or visit www.DowntownRochesterMI.com.

Meadow Brook Hall's 2011 Holiday Walk Presents
The Games People Played

ROCHESTER, Mich., November 2, 2011 As visitors walk through magnificent Meadow Brook Hall this holiday season, festoons will drape across fireplaces ablaze, ornate trees will twinkle with fairy lights, and the organ will call out favorite tunes. But this year, Meadow Brook Hall's annual Holiday Walk, November 25 through December 22, will go beyond beautiful decorations. For the 40th anniversary of the Detroit area's classic Holiday Walk, the estate will go "unplugged" with the theme "The Games People Played."
Remember life before iPads and Xbox?  From card games to board games, Lincoln Logs to Tinker Toys, visitors will see original games from the Meadow Brook collection. Also, on exhibit for the first time a rare carved-ivory chess set owned by the Wilson family. Learn about many of the cherished games we know and play today that have long and varied histories and their ability to bring people, especially families, together - making them enduring and popular pastimes.

New this year! Over the bridge and through the woods, visitors will stroll down the decorated path to tour Knole Cottage (weather permitting).  On Monday evenings for a special treat, join us for family game night and a unique craft in the Coach House. Then follow the soft glow of lanterns down the illuminated path to Knole Cottage for evening tours.  On the weekends, to make your visit a little sweeter, children of all ages can decorate a delectable holiday cookie to take home. Children can also participate in a coloring contest for a chance to win a just published Meadow Brook Hall coloring book.

The month's festivities also include tours, a pickle hunt, a chamber music concert, breakfast with Santa, an elegant holiday tea, a swinging Starlight Stroll and more.

MEADOW BROOK HALL'S 2011 Holiday Walk includes several special events:
